  1. IIIIIIIIIIIII got a feeling........y'all know the rest... Steelers/Eagles would simply be awesome. Jeff
  2. there's also the main block ground, below #5 and #6 spark plugs on the block. The dipstick tube support is also held on by it. It's a stud with a nut on it, and it's kind of a PITA to get to, but make sure you service it as well. It's one of the main ground points for the engine harness. Jeff
  3. X2 probably the best mod I've done to my MJ so far.... Jeff
  4. 2.5L or 4.0L? Either way, the normal spot for the washer resivoir is on the driverside inner fender inbetween the back of the airbox and the brake master. BUT, the coolant overflow/resivoir bottle on a 2.5L is also on the driverside inner fender, between it and the side of the airbox. Lemme see if I can dig up a couple of pics.... Jeff edit: Here’s a decent shot from when I swapped the timing set on my 2.5, with the airbox removed. You can see the two resivoirs: Image Not Found I’ve since relocated the washer reservoir on mine (when I swapped a dual diaphragm booster in, it didn’t quite fit there anymore) to the other side of the engine bay. The vacuum canister that used to be behind the front bumper occupies that space now :D Image Not Found
  5. Made the wife and I some Primanti's sammiches for dinner tonight....yum yum. Not quite as good as the original, but I'm not driving 300 miles to get one at the moment :D Pastrami, swiss cheeeeze, fried egg, coleslaw, french fries (homemade, of course), and tomato. How yin'z like at? Jeff Image Not Found
  6. hawt....in a Walmart kinda way  She's sportin' the Black and Gold.... Jeff
  7. class of '88, represent! I think my HS class will go down in history as the only one to never have a reunion....so far not a 5, 10, 15, or even 20 year one :rotfl2: If we didn't like each other 20 years ago, odds are we're still not gonna like each other now..... Welcome to the club. Jeff
  8. AMC-era black interiors are hard to come by, at least down here anyway....good luck. I looked for over a year in my 'yards down here and finally came across a 4dr XJ (non-folding) with the buckets I have now. Hopefully you'll have better luck than me  Jeff
  9. regardless of Renix or HO, you need to grab the frame horns from the donor vehicle....the 2.5 ones are different than the 4.0 ones. Unlike YJ/TJ's, the XJ/MJ horns bolt onto the framerails (not welded). All the necessary bolt holes/studs are there to swap them on, just bolt them in and go  Oh, and also grab the 4.0 motor mounts....the 2.5 ones look similar but they won't work. They are too short. Jeff
  10. FWIW Sean, I'm still using the MJ bench seatbelts with the XJ buckets on mine (I forgot to grab the 'belts from the XJ I got the buckets from, and they are black.....next to impossible to find that color). I have the ends secured to the seat bottoms with mini-bungee cords (black as well). Not an ideal setup, but it works  I thought you already had the seats for yours and just needed the brackets??? What color seats are you looking for? If I find a good set down here in the 'yards, I'll pull 'em for ya. I can tell you from personal experience that 4-dr buckets are as much of a PITA as people say they are.....I'd hold out for the folding 2-dr ones if I were you. Jeff
  11. 4.0 swap, physically is an easy job but there's a few things you need to address (frame horns, fuel lines, radiator, etc). Not sure on the wiring issues you may run into, but you may need to swap the XJ interior harness from the 96 and graft it into your MJ cab harness to make it all work. If I can help ya, lemme know. My swap was Renix/Renix and was super easy...but not so sure on Renix-to-HO. You are guaranteed to love the dual-diapraghm booster, too. Probably the best mod I ever did to mine..... Jeff
  12. chrome snorkle time, almost..... ;) Jeff
  13. The guys on Trucks! TV installed one on a resto-mod project vehicle they were working on, so it must work :shake: :rotfl2: Jeff
  14. I still have yet to get it out on a highway run, but have been driving it back and forth to the store and et cetera for the last couple days.....so far, not a drop of oil in the airbox :D amsee, no I didn't swap the head bolts. It centered itself up well with the valve cover bolts, and I figured it really shouldn't go anywhere since it has a steel core. Hope I'm right on that ;) Jeff
  15. "crankshaft bolt", you mean the one that holds the harmonic balancer on the crank snout? It's regular threaded. Easiest way is to bump it with an impact wrench (air or electric). If you don't have access to either, you can wedge a braeaker bar with socket against the framerail and (carefully) bump the engine via the starter (did I mention carefully....) to loosen it, then finish removing with a ratchet. Jeff
  16. paging Doctor Hornbrod......Doctor Hornbrod, to Tech...stat....
  17. I've got an entire in-cab harness from an '89 MJ, 4.0/AW4. I pulled it from the same MJ I pulled the underhood harness from when I did my 2.5->4.0 swap a couple months ago in case I needed it, but ended up not having to use it. There is no difference between the harnesses manual versus auto. If you're interested in it shoot me a PM. I'll let you have it for what I paid for it from the junkyard, plus the ride to get it to ya  Jeff
  18. '01 XJ= LP D30, plus the infamously bad casted cylinder head (0331, IIRC). Coil-on-plug ignition too, I think (nothing wrong with that, until something breaks). Both more than likely have 8.25 in back. I'd probably opt for the '99, but that's just me. Have fun! Jeff
  19. I ran 33's on mine before I swapped the 4.0 in.....with 4.56's.....no fun on the highway. No fun whatsoever. Jeff
  20. still need to get it out on the highway for a sustained high speed run to confirm the problem's been solved, but so far, so good  I shortened the vac hose on the back half of the cover and ran it to the vac port on the back side of the intake manifold instead of the front one (like the later model HO engines). Jeff
  21. Got the covers swapped today…..seems to really have made a difference. I need to take a highway trip to confirm, but so far NO blowby. Before, with the oil cap off, I could feel positive pressure “pulses” coming out of the hole, but nothing with the new cover. Here’s a few pics of what all is involved: The old Renix cover: Image Not Found Removed, you can see the difference in the towers versus the baffle plate: Image Not Found The gasket is different (I can’t get the photo to rotate on photobucket…sorry): Image Not Found The new gasket comes with grommets for the sleeves that the cover bolts fit thru, pop them out and install them: Image Not Found Had to change the nipple fitting on the manifold for the larger vacuum tube: Image Not Found Installed, and I cleaned up all the Renix vacuum tubing mess Image Not Found Image Not Found
  22.
  23. A Pittsburgh Christmas Carol: Yinz better wahtch aht Yinz better not paht Yinz better not cry, I’m tellin yinz hauscome Santa Clause is commin’ dahntahn He’s makin’ a list He’s checkin’ it aht He’s gowen find aht who’s nebby an at Santa Clause is commin’ dahntahn He knows if yinzes a jaggoff He can see inside your haus He knows if you’ve been workin’ hard Or sittin’ on your caach Yinz better wahtch aht Yinz better not paht Yinz better not cry, I’m tellin yinz hauscome Santa Clause is commin’ dahntahn..... What is frightening is that this is perfectly understood by those of us that have grown to love the Burgh. Merry Christmas
  24. God's Country....make sure you grab a wagon when you go in. It's a fairly decent walk back to the entrance to grab one if you find you need one. Jeff
  25. yeah, but it's all principal Brent....we just simply CANNOT loose to the Browns. Doesn't matter how we play ;) Jeff
