It fits better if you use the full console front air box.

They used those wire separators from 1991 - 1999.

If the HO IAC doesn't fix it (I think it will), you can set your idle using the set screw in the pic below. I had to tweak mine a bit when I installed a new 62mm bored throttle body recently.

Project 4 seat MJ, Killed in the womb.

The more I see the more I love this rig. This site will decode pieces of your VIN number. It appears the build date was 1993. To completely decode it it looks like you need to go to the country of manufacture, Venezuela. http://www.analogx.com/CONTENTS/vinview.htm -
What to do if your hood release cable breaks
HOrnbrod replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Yes, it's a dry graphite-based lube, doesn't gum up, and works great for mechanical speedo cables. Used it for years on all my bike speedo cables. -
The best thing I could say about these tires now is the price, so I agree with that. I've used a lot of Goodyear Wrangler tires in the past, 10+ years ago, and they were decent for the $$. Now they are below the quality of the crappy OEM tires on new vehicles, Walmart quality, require periodic balancing, and they wear out fast. They are now cheap throw away tires that get you by for awhile.

Ignore the above, and thanks for sharing this story. I never knew these existed. That must have been quite an adventure. I have forwarded the VIN to our resident expert. Hang on a bit to see what he comes up with. -
Every electrical gauge uses a sender matched to deflect the gauge indicator needle across the scale by sensing a calibrated ohm value at any point of the gauges scale. IOW, the senders ohm value table is matched to the gauge. It's very doubtful the aftermarket senders will work with factory gauges so they read correctly and vice-versa.

jeep ticks and knocks

The engine? Maybe, maybe not. Yes, that would help. -
I worked for the Sun Oil company in Virginia for a few years "servicing" the company owned Sunoco service stations; pumps, lifts, compressors, lighting, everything. One of the things we did to cut down compressor noise is to mount them using rubber isolation pads between the tank legs and the floor. It worked well quieting the noise down as it got rid of the floor sounding board effect for the most part.

I also love the Michelin LTX M/S tires, and have a set of 31-inchers on mine. Michelins are a little more $$ up front, but they never wear out. You can still get the Michelin LTX M/S2 tires in the P235/75R15 size, which will easily fit your rig. If you're used to Michelins, I don't think you will be happy with Goodyear Wranglers.

If you use an XJ full console, grab the front air diffuser piece too from the donor XJ when you pull the console. The MJ diffuser w/o a console doesn't work, leaves a gap between the dash and console. You will also have to fab up a plastic plate to block off the rear seat vent tube HVAC outlet.

What's wrong with the bumper? Just paint it the same color when you paint the trailer body - no one will even notice it in GA.

4.0 water pump: I know, just need a straight answer
HOrnbrod replied to Rohls's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have the HESCO Hi-Flo water pump only because it came with my stroker crate engine. If I had to buy one separately for $169+ I wouldn't do it - not worth the $$ and isn't necessary for a stock engine. I would just replace your existing pump with a good quality Mopar unit. There are new Mopar V9900083 pumps on Ebay that will fit your 92 for $60. Stay away from "remanufactured" units.- 11 replies

MJOTM - October, 2014 - Jeep Driver's '88
HOrnbrod replied to neohic's topic in Comanche of the Month (MJOTM)
This truck has been one of my favorites for quite some time. JeepDriver has not only retained it's originality but improved it with several well thought out "out-of-the-box" modifications. His work is always meticulous and sound, looks great, and I'm sure there will be much more to come. I'm looking forward to it. -
Looks like a lot of overhang, but really no more than the Toy Chinook. Image Not Found

Front Wheel bearings: are some better than others?
HOrnbrod replied to teamsmith's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's them. Was the separation due to "questionable quality" unit bearings or something else? I don't remember for sure........ -

What is This Hose For? Rear Axle to Frame
HOrnbrod replied to 1989 Eliminator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Your vent tube is probably stopped up and the oil is coming from the fitting where it connects to the axle. Take it off and clear the hose and fittings at each end so you can blow air through the assembly, then hook it up again. Are your axle seals leaking as well? -
