  1. That bad boy's beautiful! Colorado Red? I hope your break is finally over. Get to work!
  2. Harsh words. But I've never tried the Team Cherokee weatherstrips, so I'd agree with M. Go genuine Mopar if available is always the rule.

  4. Looks to me like you lost the nut and washer off the end link, unless it snapped off. Slide the bushing off the link and take another pic.
  5. ^^ Looks like 1994 was the year the XJs received these.
  6. Stick a pipe wrench or large channel locks through the coils of the spring and unscrew them. Might help to douche them down first with some Rustbreaker or similar.
  7. How's the area now after Harvey? The beach looks pretty well cleaned up.
  8. In that case first check for fault codes: https://comancheclub.com/forums/topic/28111-reading-obdi-91-and-92-mj-fault-codes/
  9. Does the engine hiccup when this happens or is it just a tach skip? Since it's happening in both 3rd and 4th gears at about the same spot, I don't think it's related to vehicle speed, a loose cluster cable connection, tach input signal, or bad cluster printed circuit foil. I think the most logical cause would be a wonky tach meter movement. I'd pick up a used HO cluster and swap in the tachometer to see if it still happens. Also, why is the oil pressure gauge pegged?
  10. Another option for knocking down your final drive ratio when highway driving and you can keep the existing NV3550 5-speed. I had a Volvo with a Laycock overdrive unit back in the day that did this - really cut down the RPMs and noise at speed. https://www.gearvendors.com/testimonials.html
  11. Stellar work both on the MJ and in school. Congratulations on both.
  12. The two speedo gears the OP used were 29T and 31T. Both of these speedo gears use the same "clocking"; both set in the 26T-31T position. Pretty hard to screw it up.......
  13. I had the 3.55 ratio originally with my rig before my D44 swap. You wouldn't want the 3.55 ratio with your setup, especially with the stroker. The ideal ratio for cruising and off the line would be 3.73 IMO Adam. I say if you can get the 6-speed in w/o breaking the bank it would be a hell of an upgrade.
  14. Hooked the Actron up and I was able to crank the idle RPM up to 1700RPM with it. The dash tach indicated just below 1900. So if the Actron is to be believed, the tach is reading about 10% high. The Actron was also able to read the programmed RPM and the feedback actual RPM which was also about a 10% difference. So if the dash tach is linear across the range, at 2700RPM indicated I'm actually running ~2430RPM. And that sounds about right with the 4.10 and 31s (30.5" actual). I'll have to play with my spare HO cluster and see if I can tweak the tach down a bit...
  15. Looks like I'm SOL. According to the manual, all the Actron can do RPM-wise is the idle speed test. It measures the RPMs at idle, then you can raise the RPMs up and down to see if the idle speed circuit responds. Doubt if I can crank it up to 2700RPM doing that. But I'll try it anyhow and see what happens...
  16. That good. Does the Innova 3160 connect to the OBD1 diagnostic connector as my Actron does? If so, then I'm pretty sure my Actron will do the same thing. Time to break out the manual - again. Hope I'm not stealing your thread, but I'm glad this RPM topic came up....
  17. No, have not. I just want to verify the tach readings at this point. I get no noticable increased cabin noise at 70MPH than I do at 55MPH, so I'm pretty sure my tach's off.
  18. Cool. Too bad it won't work on an HO. I think there's a way to measure RPMs with my Actron OBD1 scanner. Hmmmmm..... https://comancheclub.com/forums/topic/46667-actron-obd1-scanner/?tab=comments#comment-476254
  19. Does the Renix R.E.M. read RPMs? If so, does it agree with your dash tach? I'm going to have to pickup a handheld unit to validate my dash tach RPMs. Anyone have any recommendations for a decent one? I have a timing light but it doesn't do RPMs.....
  20. 50kb is large enough for the profile pic. The problem is that when you load your pic and it's close to 50kb in size, it gets cropped by the software. Just like your pic is Pete. To get all the pic to show, you have to reduce the pic's size considerably below 50kb.
  21. It's best to ignore it.
  22. It's there...... Ever since my tanker days driving a 20-speed Mack for Sunoco, I swore off manuals. My knees couldn't take it then; now it would be much worser. Is that a word?
  23. Neat site! Did you try the Dodge WA580 tranny?
  24. Don't know Adam. Just in looking at them both, it seems about the same size as the AW4. It was used in the Jeep Liberty, Grand Cherokee, and tons of Chrysler vehicles. One of it's advantages is it can handle big power and has a small size. The AMG hot rod Benz's and 12 cylinder vehicles used it too. It has a neat slap shifter too where you can slap the shifter handle left or right and go up and down the gears. Would be neat if you could get it in an MJ. Me - I'd just rather regear.
