The MJ is lookin' good. The deatails make the difference, good job. What front bumper is that, do you have any more pics? Looks like you'll be ready to hit the desert soon. And if anybody gives you a hard time about the stickers, just tell them how much horsepower they add, haha. :D -

For you guys that have ended the exhaust after the muffler, has there been any problem with exhaust fumes getting back to the cab ? -

I think that is CW's truck w/through frame exhaust. I think I'm going to eliminate the last 90* as well, mabye even dump it in front of the axle. -

Benz Spring in Portland.Or. can make a set, takes 2 days I think and their price seems good. For lift springs,I was thinking Hellscreek.I want suspension travel so I,m staying SUA w/a lift shackle and 3" pack probably. Good progress on the truck  . I,m jealous, looks like you have access to good equipment. Look forward to more.- 52 replies

Mabye you could get a slide hammer to thread into it ? -
Thanks, thats good to know.So an XJ D44 sans perches, shock mounts, track bar mount would be good to go.Did the newer XJ's ever have rear disc's?
-
I heard monkey's were involved.
-
I thought for some reason the MJ had a slightly wider axle :dunno:

Rear lift shackles, drivability
dakineJ replied to AMCJeepMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I saw a post recently where someone was selling 3" shackles from a Ford or something and ran them w/ 1/4" square washers.Said they worked fine, your's should be just over 2.5" wide though. -
Very true, add the the floor stand to that total to.I still think it's a worthwhile investment, having the right tool for the job can inspire you to take on more projects and make your life easier.

Thanks,according to their website,the part #'s are good for 87'-92' Comanche's and atleast some cherokee's to 99'.

86FUBAR,thats some of the better Kinker work that I've seen.Good fab on the sliders, could you have made the angle part 3" instead of 2"?I have considered the HF poop bender for a while and read many threads on the art of it's use.IIRC the HF kinker is about 150 new and the JD2 Model 3 is 295.As the JD squared is actually a tubing bender and engineered far superior,I think I am going to go that route. Also,a couple,3,or 4 guys could go in on one together and save big.

What's the least amount of backspacing you can get away with before you have to lift/trim?

I searched and could not find so...,I have an 87' 4.0L and wanted to replace the cap and rotor w/aftermarket parts. They were listed for 91'+.When I contacted the manufacture they said they would'nt work on an 87'.I was at the JY today and swapped an 90' and 93' cap&rotor ,no problem and they looked identicle.Anyone know what years interchange?

This one has been a staple with desert racers for some time - http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=791689 It's a bit more money, but has a pretty good reputation.

My column w/shifter dos'nt have tilt.
-
As it seems it will be difficult to find a shift column w/tilt,at least anywhere nearby,I was wondering if it might be possible to combine a XJ column w/tilt with a MJ shift column. The XJ tilt column,s are pretty easy to find and I have the MJ shift column.Any info and pic,s would be greatly apprreciated,Thanks.

Still 29,haha.
