  1. Here's the thing, work is burning me out right now. 6 days a week at 12 hours a day. The store is closed sunday, so it's my only day to get anything done on the Jeep. Next week is the same, plus drill friday through sunday, and a full week after that, so no day off for 12 days. The MJ is my DD, and I can't keep riding my luck on someone letting me borrow their vehicle while I wrench around on my truck. I have to cram everything into this sunday, and get it roadable, or I won't have a chance to do so for 12 more days. That's the ONLY reason I can't meet up with you guys, as much as I'd like to. I want some pictures of all the MJs together, though!
  2. I'm squeezing every ounce of daylight and energy I have into finishing my mj before sunday, but it still doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to meet you guys. This is probably one of those "once in a long damn while" meetups, and I'm kicking myself for not getting my mj done in time.
  3. To add on to what jimoshel said, make sure there aren't any severe angles in the line. Don't bend it too far to reach the back of the speedometer, or the t-case/tranny.
  4. 4.0, ax15, 3.55 and 3000 rpm at 70? Something doesn't seem right. I run that exact set up, with 29x9.5 tires and it revs about 2300 at that speed. Could it be possible, when you swapped the 2.5 for a 4.0, that you forgot to calibrate your tach?
  5. I've got some bad news, I really doubt I can make it. I did alot of front end work on my MJ today, new axle, lift, all that good stuff. Unfortunately, she won't be roadable until I can get my tie rod ends and sway bar links in the mail, and adjusted. ETA on that is wednesday, but I've got a long week at work, 6 days and 12 hour shifts. That leaves no time to wrench at it. Hate to back out now, was really looking forward to it.
  6. I put a dana 30 and front end lift in my MJ today, and found my tie rod ends need to be replaced. I'm looking on rockauto, and am confused as to which 4 I need. I see different measurements for the same side tie rod, from 5/16 bolt size to 20mm, along with different lengths. Does anyone have specific part numbers for all 4 tie rod ends so I get this right the first time? I was surprised at the differences in tie rod ends within the same year MJ. 88 4.0 Edit: I did find these part numbers: 4011328B 4011333B 4011332B 4101027B If someone can confirm for me that these are correct, you'd save me alot of headache.
  7. It's been a long time coming, but tomorrow I'm installing my dana 30 and front end lift components. Should level it out nicely, the rear may still slightly be raised. Hard to tell with SOA and sagging leafs. Today I swapped my brake booster to a 98 ZJ dual diaphragm. Gonna need it for the bigger tires, no doubt: The size difference between the ZJ and MJ boosters was impressive:
  8. Sounds like we got us a convoy. From what I'm reading, we've got: 59comanche (possibly) onlyinajeep726 Byrdock me (possibly) uglyamerican and then whatever buddies we invite. All things considered, that's not a bad turn out.
  9. Sounds like a few of your xj buddies are buddies of mine, too. Know quite a few from university. Maybe even a little earlier, but sounds good to me.
  10. The center bearing looks identical to what I have in my 29 spline 8.25, so I'd say it's correct. I can't vouch for the other two, though. They don't look right.
  11. I want to say he wrote Cherokee to get more hits on the craigslist search. There is no way someone would put that much effort into a vehicle they didn't know the name of.
  12. This is where I placed mine: Leaves plenty of leg room for the passenger, and I have the mic mounted to the dash. Works great!
  13. Make it March 2nd and I should have no trouble getting there. Concords no more than 30 minutes from me on a no traffic day, so this should be planned around the guys who have to make a trip.
  14. They're very rare here, too. I've never seen one drive while in my MJ, and only ever seen one or two in another vehicle. I did find an immaculate Red MJ in my sisters new neighbors driveway, however. Gonna have to make friends with him or her.
  15. Sorry, I misunderstood you. You said Discount Tire direct, I automatically assumed they put the tires on, too. It's definitely hit or miss with that southern hospitality, you've really got to be in the right area to get it. Too rich an they're snobs, too poor and they're @$$ backwards about the world.
  16. Discount Tires are strictly tires and rims. They don't do alignments, or ANY other work. They change, balance, mount and repair flats, that is IT. They should not have told you everything was fine by any means, they should have told you they aren't qualified to give that opinion. A good thing about DT is you can breathe down their necks the entire process, watching everything they do, and you can be sure for yourself what shape your suspension components are in while the tires are off. Never ask, check yourself if you want it done right.
  17. That works for me, Concord Mills Mall would be ideal.
  18. I'd be down for that, depending on the date of course. Edit: Maybe a bit further south of Winston Salem.
  19. I can name a few of those: On the drivers side fender, on the far right, your looking at a fuel pump ballast. Middle is I believe a vacuum sensor to the EGR valve. I'm not sure what the relay on the left is for, I don't have that.
  20. Your thinking of the auto and manual TPS sensors. The manual one is hard to find and over $100 alot of the time, the auto one is common and cheap, maybe $30. Rock auto has both, and you can use both with no issues. This is what you want: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=951161&cc=1181584 When connecting it to a manual, you only use the oval 3 prong connector, and cover up the other one. That would normally send information to the auto tranny.
  21. I bought an iPad once... turns out having the wealth of information the internet has to offer accessed with the tap of a finger is quite useful when working on the MJ, and countless other tasks. I'd say, once you get it set up, it'll be just as valuable to you as a damn socket wrench.
  22. The blend door I believe is the lever that is directly controlled by the temperature slider on the dash. It runs a long wire to a lever just under the passenger footwell. You may have to take the lower heating vents out to find it. That was my problem awhile back, only ever had hot air. I reattached that lever and I get lots of both, now.
  23. It does indeed look very familiar, I sold a wooden bezel and a center console just like that to someone on here a few months ago. I believe it was GirsMJ86, as onlyinajeep said.
  24. It does indeed work, for all three. I doubt it makes any difference, but I'm using a Mac with Safari.
