  1. I think that only shows up for your own posts/topics. It gives you the option to hide your post from everyone I believe. I've got that option on my posts, too.
  2. 4-wheel drivin is fun in a Jeep! in a jeep! That's an awesome video, amazing what those vehicles could do stock.
  3. Nope, the guy pictured there was the spokes person in this ad for comanche in 89: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVEqgy3TEBc&index=10&list=FLN4Z-G7MrQnP3ha7tBtn4Ww It's a pretty neat video to watch, about 8 minutes long. I mean... he MAY be a member, but I'd doubt it.
  4. Why's that? Legitimate question. I'd take a guess and say it's damn near impossible to balance out a bead locked wheel, because seating that bead just right is difficult. High vibrations could mean devastating results at high speeds. Bead locks should be reserved for large tires on strictly off road rigs that frequently air down to 5 psi or so, because a regular bead on a tire would likely pop at that low of pressure.
  5. If you can't find a used one, you can still buy new ones online: http://teamcherokee.com/rear-back-slider-tinted-glass-assembly-jeep-comanche-pick-up-1986-1992/ I remember seeing that exact window for $150 somewhere, but can't find the website.
  6. Installed my winch today, chose a 9000 lbs Badlands over the 12000 pounder because it has a faster reel speed, and I can't think of a scenario where I'd need 12000 lbs. I'm almost done with my project, all that's really left are the seats, lighting and some engine mods.
  7. I would love one of these, if only I had the money, resources and know how to make one. How much do these usually run you?
  8. I had no idea they put cruise control on manual trucks, I'd think if you hit the clutch with it engaged it wouldn't take long for it to red line your engine, unless there was a safety for that. Makes me want one, now!
  9. So it's settled? We all meet in Siler City, I'll bring my old axles, bumper, and other stuff, i'm sure someone could use them.
  10. Sounds like the entire drivetrain is in good condition, but even so, a 4.0, tranny, t-case, drive shafts and axles all together isn't worth $900, and that's about all that's salvageable from it.
  11. Me and another member did a uwharrie trip last weekend, alot of members don't have off roadable MJs, maybe it'd be best to do another concord meetup.
  12. Indeed an interesting and adventurous day. Post em up if you want, I'll just take the heat for it, haha. I'll have a thorough explanation in the post following the videos.
  13. Cool, I'll make a note and try to get off.
  14. Learned how to do my dual diaphragm brake booster awhile back with one of his videos. Cool guy, though he seems to refuse the MJ exists. I've talked to him a couple times, depending on the video he will list every "J" jeep in the book except MJ. Not a problem, though, still has awesome how-tos.
  15. Sounds like your browser is caching previous data downloaded from the site, and reusing it to make loading the page quicker. I don't use firefox, but check the options to see if there is a "Cache" option, and turn it off to reload a fresh page everytime. I think he means he's using a beta version of firefox, an unreleased and buggy "next" version of the browser.
  16. Thanks! I finally got around to putting new rims on her, they have a wider offset now. This is with 1.5 inch spacers, I may take em off depending on if I rub the fender flexing. That little step stool didn't do much, though! I get the center caps in a few days. This was almost a little embarrassing, haha:

Glad to have you! We've had alot of new members lately, it seems. Has Pete been advertising? Be sure to check out this: http://comancheclub.com/forum/8-your-project-mjs/ and start a build thread with pictures. Lots of em.
  18. Air cooled VW's huh? Brother had a Karmann Ghia, so did my dad, plus several bugs. Always wanted a schwimmwagen, but that'll never happen. I'll take a 21 split window bus, though. Hell, if it was pristine I'd get rid of my mj and yamaha to get it!
  19. You can still buy em new from some places: http://teamcherokee.com/rear-back-slider-tinted-glass-assembly-jeep-comanche-pick-up-1986-1992/ There was another website that had it a bit cheaper, and had an option with no tint. I'll try to hunt it down for you.
  20. Yep, but more often than not, the hub will not come off easily. I had to place a socket between the hub and axle, turn the engine on and use the power steering to pop it off. I don't recommend that, though. Alot can go wrong if your not careful, especially if your on jack stands.
  21. I don't mean to question your decision to sell the MJ over the XJ, but after all the work put into the MJ to get it the way you want, why sell it over the XJ, when you can find one for a dime a dozen. Even stroked XJs aren't terribly hard to find, I've seen a couple on craigslist in the past few months. It just seems to me it'd be a better choice to keep the rarer of the two, plus it's better on gas. (though if 14.9 is your average, there is something very wrong since it's stock, I get 15mpg with 33s and less than desirable gearing.)
  22. Give it to me? Seriously, I'll even stop by on my way back from drill, you won't have to go out of your way at all! haha
  23. Correct. And my preference would be to put the best tires on the front. The front does all the steering and the major part of the braking -- I like to have some ccontrol over my vehicle when driving. I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one. The way I was taught, the best tires are always put on the rear, for this reason: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTiresRear.do This is regardless of front or rear wheel drive. Yeah, I know there are people out there who want to put the best tires on the rear, even with rear wheel drive. I've never agreed with that, it defies logic, and real world experience proves the opposite. You're welcome to disagree, but that article isn't going to change my opinion that's based on driving for 54 years and well over a million miles. (Closing in on my second million, but I don't think I'll ever quite get there.) The article assumes you can steer with the front wheels. In the real world, if you don't have decent tread in front you CAN'T steer -- especially in wet weather or snow. If your front, treadless tires hydroplane, you're going off the road. The difference is you go off nose first and smash head-on into whatever's out there, rather than maybe fishtailing and sliding off the road sideways. I also neglected to say these people won't even touch your car if you only want two tires, and the two that are staying are below a certain tread depth. They would all have decent tread. I hate to disagree with people that have that much experience under their belt, I've always been fortunate enough to have four new tires when I've needed them, so I have no experience with bald vs new tires. I will always go with the voice of experience and reason over popular belief. Thanks for the input.

  25. Hmm, unless you have a preference in which way you steer, like nascar, it doesn't really matter wether its on drivers side or passenger traction wise. If you've got a stock truck, you'll have an open differential in the rear, meaning the power goes to the wheel with less resistance. Turning left or right constantly changes this. I'd just put it on Left Rear, it might not be much, but the better tread will provide a smoother ride closest to the driver. Edit: forgot some stock trucks had LSD diffs, but the point is the same.
