My 94 4x2 4.0 Cherokee, when at its best, was getting 23-24 on the highway. I got rid of the puny tailpipe right away and added a KN filter. Think more air coming in and a little less back pressure helped

Take one loooooooooooooooonnnnnnnngggggggggggggg snorkel and a lot of oxygen tanks for the driver and a big, floating gas tank! Get a flat! Ohhhhhhh! -
I shall ask about the extended warranty. Did not think of that, but shoulda! I told the wife I would be happy with regular windows and locks, but she wanted the cool stuff, so ..... Plus, they come as a "package" with a bunch of other "stuff"!

I used some of the board type insulation goes in walls of a house that was about 1/2 inch thick (the right thickness to fit in the space between the pillar and window panels) and used a box cutter cut out the places where it would fit around where the pillar panels attach to the cab and slio up under the back window panel and shaped it to fit over the drive line hump. Covered it with some maroon cloth that matched my interior, loosed the pillar and window interior panels and fit it in there.

Get some insulation, cut it to fit, cover it with whatever. Works great!

Dunno. Gas it. Burn it. Gas in. Burn it again. Not sure. Guess I should check.

yep. The 23,500 is the cost. I get it for 19,200. Has 11 miles on it!

Well, our bought new in 94 4x2 4.0 XJ with cruise (not working), AC, and that's all (no power locks, windows, etc) now with 267,000 miles now on it, is soon history with us. All I have had to do to it is a crank sensor, starter, radiator, water pump, differential bearings, and normal upkeep stuff, which makes it the most carefree car I have ever owned, is being replaced by a 2010 Inferno Red FWD Patriot with power locks, windows, cruise, sun roof, Cirrus Radio, heated outside fold away mirrors, 2.4 Auto, tire and wheel group (tires being turned around- don't like raised white letters), bunches of bells and whistles, in a dealer trade that gets a 23,500 vehicle for me for 19,200. My wife has had to do without a lot of conveniences, but now after 40 years, maybe something nice. Been watching the Patriot, and the main selling point as far as my research? At least from what I have found, there are no used ones because no one is trading them in. This says volumes. We shall see. But, do not even THINK about replacing my MJ!!!!!!!!

Oh, please! Back to the days of a rightly jetted carb on a free flowing manifold where there were no sensors, etc. Oh, such simpler days, and you could make them get the same gas mileage! -

NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GMC replacing a MJ! NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Ok. OOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!! Heart rate back to normal! Ok. A good running 2.5 is so much sweeter than those other ........ THINGS!!!!!! Take a careful look and see what you can find. If'n the broken parts .... happens to us all when we get "aged" (let the reader understand) can be fixed, don't "scrap it"!!!!!! -
87 was Olympic white. It had a touch of yellow in it and was "warmer" looking. Later they did bright white. It had a touch of blue in it and was "colder" looking. My Manche is the Olympic white and my Cherokee it the Bright white. I like the Olympic better.

Water or something in the gas? I had that problem once and had to change the filter several times to get it cleared out. New one would fail very quickly. Maybe got some bad gas at one time. Gas station may have been sucking the bottom of their tank. Pull the line loose on the inlet side of the filter and see what comes out of that side of the filter. With the very fine mesh on them, they clog up fast. -
Back in the days I worked at a Ford dealership, the 4x4's would get a clunk in the front with the wheels turned. Was one of the ujoints on the front axle. Not having a 4x4 mancie, I "assume" there is a ujoint or something similar on the front axles. Could be the front clunk, and if worn, would think it would let there be some shaking when braking. Hey! I'm a poet and didn't know it! ;)

Grizzlygrip comes in colors. What about the others? I would like to keep a kind of white in my white bed. -
This is what a 350 looks like in a comanche.
streetjeep2.5 replied to possum's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
What makes the buick 350 that much lighter? Aluminum heads? Block? Read up on it, and with it's long stroke it makes more torque, but also is a wider engine that the chevy 350 because of the long stroke. They say it is sometimes mistaken for a buick big block because of it's width. Might be a tight fit in an mj! They say it was used in the Gladiator and Wagoneer 68 to 71, so it "could" be considered a "jeep" engine, I suppose! :dunno: -
Ben there, done that in having to sell a vehicle ... actually, two ... I really wanted to keep. But, family must come first. First was a 66 ford 1/2 ton 4x2 short box 6cyl 3onthetree. Next was a 64 ChevyII Station wagon 283 3onthetree. Hoping, now that kids are in their 30's that I get to keep my 'manche, but if push comes to shove .... :dunno:

Factory Door Hinge repair plates
streetjeep2.5 replied to streetjeep2.5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Doh! says a Simpson like lunkhead! Forgot about those on the door!!! My hinges are still welded fine, but want to keep them from coming loose ever. Don't want to take them off but make them more secure. Haven't looked, but can you get behind the pillar with hinges on, add a plate and put a couple of bolts through hinge and plate in order to better secure them to the pillar? -

IRT the pillar plate fix: what about a double plate with moveable nuts in between the plates to make it adjustable up and down, forwards and backwards, like old hinges were? Body repair guys out there, how could this be done? -

Talked with the parts manager at the dealership. He says they are housed at an independent warehouse and there would be shipping because they could not order them in on the regular stock order to save shipping costs to the dealership. He seemed interested in the cost plus 10% if they could be brought in on a stock order but already ordered for a customer that has already paid up front because it would mean more income for the business. As it is, there would be shipping charges from the warehouse to the dealership. Back to MeganJoys plan!!!! :brows:
