Chrysler's New Midsize UNIBODY Pickup for 2011????
streetjeep2.5 replied to comanche09's topic in The Pub
I cannot begin the fathom what it takes to run an automobile company these days. In the 1950's and 60's it was a lot simpler, but today you have world wide competition. To try and satisfy the likes and dislikes of billions of people in order to hopefully gain some of them as loyal customers all the while being aware of the constant new technology and incorporating it into a vehicle to make it safer, more reliable, more efficient, and at the same time not abandoning what has made customers happy in the past, plus dealing with people like many of us; MJ AND XJ AND 4.0 FOREVER! and then those who say GREAT MILEAGE AND GREENER! has got to be daunting! I would have to say, a CEO and board of directors who can do that, and maybe pull a company like Chrysler/Jeep up from oblivion and accomplish this, is worth some decent bucks. I know I couldn't do it! :ack: -

Chrysler's New Midsize UNIBODY Pickup for 2011????
streetjeep2.5 replied to comanche09's topic in The Pub
In my younger years I worked the parts counter of a Ford Dealership. An angry mechanic came in to parts one time and said "those idiots who design cars need to work on them for 5 years before the design them!" :fs1: :wall: -
Chrysler's New Midsize UNIBODY Pickup for 2011????

A Jeep built by Fiat? Hmmmm. Will it be a return to the heyday of the 1990's as they admit, with as solid a vehicle for off roading as then? -
FreakJeep 93; first, be thankful that you have parents who care enough to do this! Maybe they don't do so perfectly, but they are trying to do what they are there to do; parent you! There are parents who could give a rip! Yours care! Second, yea, Physics is tough! I don't know if I could have handled it! When I got to Trig and Calculus in High School, I did terrible! Third, and this is the real point of my post; should I consider your spelling in your post an indication of why your parents are yelling at you? Was your spelling done out of frustration and anger at the moment as you blew off some steam, or is that the way you normally spell? I don't know if it does for you, but my spelling errors are underlined in red on this forum so I can correct them. Does it for you? Even if it did not underline in red, for the sake of us reading it you should have corrected your errors if you saw them because there was a bunch! Now, please don't take this as coming down on you but out of great concern for your future. If your not taking the time to correct those errors is an indication of how you approach school work, and that is do enough to just get by and who cares how well it is done, no wonder your parents are frustrated and angry! An approach like this toward school, others, and life, will only turn out to bring great harm for your life in the future. Please, if this is the case, correct it now before it's too late! Let your parents help you. All parents make mistakes, but yours obviously love you. If they didn't they would say "whatever! It's your life"! A note: When I first posted this, I read it again, and because I found ONE missing word that would interfere with those reading it understanding it, I clicked the edit button. So, FreakJeep93, click the edit your life button if that is what you need to do, ok? You will like it later on as people "read" your life.

Which one do you wear? We wear a brown one that looks like the alternate to the billed cap of years ago. Guess I was used to that kind of hat from my army years (1968-1970).

This Wed. is Veterans Day. First, to all Vets on this site, thanks. Second, if possible attended something honoring vets, and get the family to be part of it. Too many in my era, the Vietnam era, came home with instructions to wear civilian clothes in order to avoid being avoided. I came home in my uniform. Third, if you are a Vet, consider joining the VFW in your area. Some have become "good old boys" groups of WWII and Korea vets because Vietnam and Desert Storm Vets don't join, and they are tired of trying. If you are a vet from anytime after WWII and Korea, and join, become active and help get it active again, for many good things come out of others seeing your thankfulness for serving this nation.

can imagine so since the same engine/tranny combo used two different clutch sizes! Let us know if it worked out!

Sooooo... plan on doing a little James Bond type of dealing with those who don't understand Jeep owners, eh?

What about a 4.3 instead of 5.0?
streetjeep2.5 replied to streetjeep2.5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It would definitely be injected, probably a balance shaft version if I did such a conversion. I would want to pump it up by at least 50hp, and that appears easy to do w/cam and pistons and other things. I was thinking shifting it forward just for being able to get to the back of the engine and create more air flow around the engine. -
A huge THANKS for being willing to serve this great nation (although some within it want to make it nothing). And, yes, what a spider can do! While in Vietnam I remember the first time I used one of our makeshift outside showers with a tub on top with a submersable heater in it, I had LOTSA funny looking insects, including spiders, watching from inside that little outhouse. Took quick showers, dontchaknow! Brown Recluses are all over here in Missouri, and my wife goes through plenty of Home Defense spray! Had a friend die from being bit several times by Brown Recluse, and a member of my church almost loose her arm to save her life after a barn cat bite. You are a fortunate man! And, we are fortunate to have you here on the list showing us we need to not let things far less serious bum us out! So, again, THANKS!

What about a 4.3 instead of 5.0?

Found this on a budget build 4.3. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/engi ... index.html -
Dial-a-Clutch, where I got my Luk clutch kit when I did my 87 2.5 w/4speed, shows two sizes for the 86; 9 1/8 and 9 11/16, both 14 spline. Here is their link: http://www.dial-a-clutch.com/category_s/25285.htm Hope this helps!

What about a 4.3 instead of 5.0?
streetjeep2.5 replied to streetjeep2.5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I started this post because my 87 4x2 nuttinbutstreet 'manche is pushing 320,000 with original 4 speed and D35. Syncro's are starting to not work as well, and I do believe I am detecting the beginnings of noise in the differential. My rebuilt 2.5 now has 50,000 on it. I figure in a couple of years I will need to do something about both, so I thought about taking the time to get everything together to do a 4.3 and a 44 for the back. I had a 4.3 in a 92 Sonoma extended cab with a 5 speed and stock it hauled a . ., and since I am now 61 I figure this would be my last "fling" at hot-rodding, something I haven't done since getting married, and to do so with staying jeep would mean swapping to a 4.0, doing a stroker, and needing to read diff, etc anyway. And, I like the look of a "v" engine under the hood, but a chevy v-8 in there appears to be problems waiting to happen. I would think a 4.0 radiator should be sufficient for the 4.3. When someone does a 4.0 stroker, do they keep the same radiator or need to upgrade? And, I would think with the 4.3 it could scoot forward in the engine bay a bit for distributor access. Thoughts? -

What's a little wiring when you already gotta find a new transmission, possibly axles, and fab up motor mounts? http://advanceadapters.com Plug in your info and ... -
Lotsa chatter about heating problems and lack of space under the MJ/XJ hood for a GM 350. What about a GM 4.3? Seen some of them built to put out some serious HP. I know they are fairly equal to a 4.0, but for those who want a "V" engine under there ...

WOW! Good finds for here in MO. When wife and I would go to KC to visit daughter, would make a trip to the U-Pull-It (used to be U-Wrench-It) on the east side of 435 just north of I-70, hoping to find an MJ. found one, but it was a real mess!

 there are dirt cheap cameras out there that are more than capable of snapping photos for internet usage. go get one. It's funny. At 61 I avidly use computers and like having a really good one instead of hanging on to my original Mac Classic with a 9 inch screen, but have a tough time going digital but instead love using my Full Metal Jacket Canon AE-1 with Telephoto. But, guess I best get over using it only, eh? :smart:

Sorry, no pics (don't own a digital camera). A week ago pulled the carpet and padding because it was wet from a really worn out driver side door seal and let them dry for a week. Ordered a door seal http://www.teamcherokee.com/Weatherstrip/index.html and installed it. REALLY happy with it's quality! Wire brushed some minor surface rust on the floor board because of the leak. Vacuumed it out, washed it down, and applied some rust sealer a local body shop uses in place of por-15 because theirs is one step. This shop restores a lot of cars and they use this on them. Forgot the name of it but since they are closed today I will get it later and let you know. With carpet and pad dry, same body shop gave me some of the wrap (free) used on chrome bumpers that they use for sound insulation and added it. Didn't add it under or over the heat insulation for the converter. Reinstalled it all and it did help some! I can hear my CD turned down two notches!

With everything nice and shiny and painted and purty, gonna park it in the living room under glass??? ;)

From Missouri but do no off road wheeling. Mine is a 4x2, gonna stay that way, and is a street jeep! I know, I know, then why own a jeep? Cuz my first one ever was and still is a 94 cherokee 4x2 with 260,000 and is still our "family" rig. Now I have a 'manche also cuz cherokees and comanches were the best suv's and pickups ... EVER!

360 Fuel Injection Build
streetjeep2.5 replied to 360MJDude's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Secondly, in the 1960's we used to built chevy 235's etc with multiple carbs and split exhaust, along with 12.5 compression pistons, cams, and other stuff that would, with the torque of an inline engine, eat V8's off the line enough to keep them at bay in the 1/4 mile. Oh, what fun to pull up to a v8 with a 6 popper anbd beat them with the torque of an inline engine! -

Naaa. 4.0's are simply made of serious metal and meant to be bullet proof compared to light weight v8'a etc. they are "full metal jacket!" 8) -
Sorry. No electric. No gas. Charcoal fired to life by wood, even sometimes an actual wood fire to cook on. Ah, yes, the days of my youth when we would camp and work the wood fire to a bed of glowing coals over which we would put a metal grill, cook our fish freshly caught either fried or deep fried, or make a really good stew that would simmer all day over the fire and coals. Then, at night, we would slow cook hot dogs on a stick, climb into our sleeping bags and watch the coals glimmer and give off warmth as we went to sleep. Then, in the morning, at 5am, my brother and I would work the coals left over, place some twigs on it, get them burning, and bring that same fire back to life for another day of fishing, cooking and really enjoying! Ahhh!
