Does anyone know how to wire the Cherokee XJ tail lights (the ones with separate brake and turn signal bulbs) to be like the Wagoneer XJ tail lights (combined brake and turn signals)? I know that there's a wiring diagram to mate the XJ dash harness with MJ tail light/fuel pump harness. I was successful with that when I did my swap on my MJ. Was wondering if the same can be done for the XJ's tail light harness. Edit: This is the write up I'm referring to. http://comancheclub.com/topic/18588-xj-dash-harness-to-rear-mj-harness-wiring-guides/ Is it as simple as connecting pin #3 of the C118 connector to pin #5 of the C119 connector to get the tail lights to function like the Waggy lights? "# Pin 3 on XJ C118 connects to pin 5 on XJ C119. This will provide proper wiring for the brake lights."

I need some recommendations on some good adjustable upper controls arms for my XJ. Right now, after some hard wheeling, the death wobblez have returned. I knew it was only a matter of time because my caster is all sorts of stupid off. The pinion yoke is perfectly parallel with the frame rails instead of raised like it ought to be. My coils are rubbing all over the coil posts as well. Anyway, I'm running Rusty's Offroad fixed LCA's with the bend (not sure of their length because I bought them years ago when I was stupid and was new to lifts). I'm running 4" of lift up front. Need some good adj. UCA's to get my axle back to acceptable caster. Also, I'm not looking to buy the best, most expensive UCA's ever. Eventually, I'm upgrading to long arms and a 6" lift. Just need something to make it drivable again for a while.

Get an aluminum cover from a newer model 4-banger XJ and get the nice Felpro PermaDry rubber gasket for a '98 Dodge Dakota with 2.5L. Bolt it on, route your CCV lines and call it a day.

I have lots of pictures. Just got them all uploaded to FB. The video files are HUGE and will take quite some time to upload. I'm having to edit some of them due to length and other factors, which will delay when I can upload those.- 11 replies

Just went through your entire build thread... Impressive work man. Can't wait to see this Sunday at Uwharrie. Makes me really want to do SOA rear and lift mine.

Egr Making Loud Noise
onlyinajeep726 replied to AeroNautical's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I know this thread is old and I'm late to the party, but my '88 XJ used to make that same noise. I had no idea it was that stupid thing. My dad and I heard it one day and thought we had a duck getting mauled under the hood. Never could figure out where it was coming from. Oh well, I don't have that crap in the XJ anymore lol. -

Front Radiator Support
onlyinajeep726 replied to az comanches's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yea, I wasn't exactly sure which "radiator support" you meant. The front cross member, as Pat said, is spot welded in place. Might be better off getting this: http://www.orsfab.com/bumpers.html -

Ah... I was not aware those came off... Never looked at it that closely, but that's good to know. Thanks. P.S.: I told you I was probably wrong haha. -
Fawk that dude haha. One wrong move and you'll flip and roll down the entire 100+ foot incline.

Beat me to it haha. To the OP, you can have the dash out in 30 minutes if you've got the basic tools listed. -
Front Brake Caliper Mount
onlyinajeep726 replied to ajohnson928's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
By "mounts", do you mean the entire knuckle? Because, IIRC, the that's the only way to replace them. But, I could be (and wouldn't be surprised if I was) wrong about that... it's late and my mind is not 100% with me at the moment haha. -

School Me On The Overhead Console Swap
onlyinajeep726 replied to Minuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don't know about the wiring... I used a complete wiring harness from an XJ Laredo when I did my engine swap, so I already had the wiring available for the OHC. I don't imagine it would be too hard to wire up if you're only wanting the lights to work. Here's how mine turned out: (I will eventually wrap it for a factory look) Factory mounting brackets used. Just cut holes in the headliner where needed. -
Comanche Spotted At Sheetz - Clayton, Nc
onlyinajeep726 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in The Pub
Heck yea man! It's funny, I saw this one, then last night after I made it to my destination, I saw another one at the beach. That's how it goes though... don't see any for a loooonnng time, then out of the blue, two or three. -
I spotted this Comanche at the Sheetz right down from my house on Thursday. Not sure of the year and I didn't get to talk to the owner as he walked inside to do whatever. I was in my XJ, so I didn't have any cards, but I did leave a note about CC and my username on a piece of cardboard. Anyone here own it? I snapped a photo of it and the VIN. Burgandy interior, was a manual transmission and SporTruck model. Not sure if it was a 2.5 or 4.0, but your grille is upside-down hahaha. If the owner is here, I'd love to meet you. Always looking for local Jeep enthusiasts, especially MJ's and XJ's.

Assortment Of Questions Regarding My 2.5L
onlyinajeep726 replied to BryceOJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm assuming based on your signature it's an '88? The 2.5L with AW4 is somewhat rare. I imagine it will feel somewhat underpowered. You are probably correct with your guess of 4.56 gears. A Dana 35 looks like this: As far as power steering, you'd need the pump and all the mounting brackets, the steering box, hydraulic lines and the correct length serpentine belt. Best to find a donor at the junkyard. XJ's, MJ's, YJ's with the 2.5 all should work. -

Bench Seat Question
onlyinajeep726 replied to mopar.stevo's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My '86 had the center belt. Took it out because no adult is small enough to fit there... three people in an MJ cab.... ridiculous haha. -
Definitely. Most of the news is so negative. This was actually nice, and I'm not really a cat person. I do wonder what possessed this dog to do that and what happened to it after all this.
