  1. Sound good to me guys...
  2. I'm going to try to make it to the swap meet, but I don't plan to sell or buy anything... Mainly want to go to see some MJ's and talk to cool Jeep folks. Will likely be driving the XJ since the MJ may be sold by the point.
  3. It's already an open system... the closed system was on the '87-'90 model MJ and XJ with a 4.0L. Otherwise, if it's the 2.5L/2.8L, it utilizes an open system.
  4. Like Don said... year and engine would be helpful to know... Assuming it's a 4.0L, here you go:
  5. I'd like to see some pictures from underneath the hood... See how well the fab work has been done.
  6. That's awesome guys! Hate that I couldn't make it. Oh well, they'll be other trips I suppose.
  7. Awesome idea! Hope that the JB holds up over time. I did this (see below) for my XJ to control the roof lights, bull bar lights, aux. fan and OEM fan override:
  8. I agree, the pictures you posted are too small to be worth anything. When I did my booster/MC swap, I swapped in an XJ prop valve and got rid of the load sensing rear prop valve. So folks here will say to stay away from the XJ prop valve, but I've had no problem. Take it apart and clean it out really well and you shouldn't have an issue.
  9. Awesome!! I'm going to try to make it. Dunno if I'll take the XJ or the MJ.
  10. North Carolina are money-hungry thieves. Vehicles have to 35 years old or older to qualify and you still have to have be registered. http://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/vehicle/title/vehicles/
  11. No, but it want to be the guinea pig and find an old seat to experiment with, please post and show all of us how.
  12. No worries mods... I post it in the classifieds if/when I fully decided to sell it. Right now, it's still up in the air.
  13. Thanks! Wanna buy it? CC member pricing of $3500 lol. At least I know it'll go into good hands and I can still see pictures of it haha.
  14. Did you want to buy that bench seat I have? I never got a PM back from you. If you don't, that's cool, but just let me know that also.
  15. That's one very big reason why I'm hesitant to sell it... I'd hate to see it in a couple months at Uwharrie, beat to hell, cratered like the moon and in the hands of some 19 year old redneck wannabe. It's hard for me not to be attached given the level of dedication I had to getting it like it is now. It's not 100% finished and by the looks of it, I'll never get to finish it like I wanted... I hope one day, by some twist of luck, I'll be able to buy it back from whoever may end up owning it at that point. Would be really awesome, but that's wishful thinking.
  16. Sure... if you'll give me some appropriate amount of cash lol. You won't even have to negotiate, it'll be easy haha. :D
  17. That's what I was thinking in my head, but didn't know how "reasonable" it is. I'm still all ears for others' opinion...
  18. I hate to be that guy, but I'm a bit unsure how to price the MJ... Recently, I've been contemplating selling it. Let me make this clear... I really don't want to sell it, but I just can't afford to keep both Jeeps gassed up with their insatiable thirst for the liquid gold. Some of y'all are aware of the time and work put into this thing, and I know that realistically, I can't expect to get my money, blood, sweat, and tears back out of it. What I'm wanting to know is, what could or should I expect to see if I sell it? I'm looking to get an older model Toyota or Honda with the money I make from the potential sell of the MJ. Here's the skinny on the MJ so y'all can make a more educated estimate: It's an '86 Custom, low mileage - less that 85k currently Rebuilt 4.0L swapped in External slave AX15 5-speed, was told it was rebuilt, shifts and drives fine suggesting that was likely true New LuK clutch kit and new master/slave hydraulic system NP242 Selec-Trac 4WD system New tires Interior swapped, floor boards bed-lined, minimal rust, body is straight as an arrow All fluids new, with exception of differentials (fluid there seems fine) New fuel pump (had to with 4.0 swap) 2-row all metal radiator New battery Comes with plastic drop-in bedliner and metal tool box CB radio and FireStik antenna Upgraded sound system (CD/mp3) Only bad thing is rear bumper is bent to hell Some of y'all have seen my build thread on this and know what all I've done to it. To those who haven't, take a gander and let me know what y'all think. Again, I hate to do that, but it's either that or the XJ, and currently, I'm planning on keeping the XJ.
  19. I have a bench seat I can sell you. You'll just need to swap the floor brackets onto it from your current seat.
  20. Here's a picture of the truck for everyone to see:
  21. I just hope that weld holds good for the remainder of your MJ's days... Would be very bad if that were to break when you brake. :( The '97+ boosters themselves are the same, but IIRC, the rods are of different lengths than the '95/'96 booster, which is why the earlier model ones are preferred. I lucked out when I got mine. There were 6 different '96 XJs when I went. The MC I have came from a '98.
  22. Sean is correct about the oil capacity, but I will say this much on the topic: When I do an oil change, I typically only end up putting in a little under 5.5 quarts after everything is said and done, so put in 5 quarts and check it after 20 minutes and add whatever it needs. The bezel is a piece of cake to remove. There are 4 screws that hold it in place. One screw is above the headlamp switch, the next is above the cigarette lighter plug (must be pulled out to gain access), the next two are above where the instrument cluster opening is. After you remove those, just give a light tug on the bottom-right corner to get the tension clips out. It's can be out in less than two minutes.
  23. That's an option, also. The only thing though is that it lacks over-drive.
  24. The 2.1L TD will fit without firewall/radiator support modification (as they were an engine choice for these trucks in '86). If you go with the GM 3.4L, you can continue to use your current AX4/5 transmission (or whatever trans you currently have), but my advice would be to find the elusive Dakota bell housing (used to mate the 2.5L to an AX15, same will work on the GM 3.4L) and find an external slaved AX15. Or, you could find the Isuzu AW4 bell housing and mate an AW4 behind it. You would just have to find a stand alone TCM to shift the transmission correctly.
