  1. If you remember a week or so ago, I made a wood mini truss for my front D60 to have a place to put an upper control arm mount. Couldn't figure out a good way to fasten it to the axle, though. Krazy Glue didn't work, Gorilla Glue wasn't much better and hot melt just made a mess. So I bit the bullet and made a new one, this time out of steel. Many thanks to Chris Webb from CW Automotive in Wooster, OH for his mad welding skills.
  2. Some junk yards don't know Jack. I once called one and asked how much they wanted for a Dana 30 out of a Jeep Cherokee. They quoted me $600. When I asked why so high, their reply was "because you asked for the Dana axle. The base 4wd front axle you can have for $300."
  3. XJ ones aren't as rare as MJ ones, but an XJ one will need the same modifications as any other axle to fit under an MJ. And MJ specific one will not need to be modified, saving time and money.
  4. Will an 88 TCU (Renix) work with a 91 transmission(OBD)?
  5. I will find you. And I will kill you.
  6. Not to mention they bleed all over adjacent channels.
  7. I have used a 3' Firestick, currently running a 2' K40 on a spring mount.
  8. Vent tube shouldn't leak. It goes up into the engine bay and fastens to the firewall.

    Gas prices

Monday it jumped from 3.53 to 3.89. Down to 3.77 today.
  10. 80w90 or something near that GL5 gear oil. If you're going to abuse it off road regularly I would go to 85W140.
  11. Are you sure the 231C has a wider chain? I know a 241C does, as does the 231D HD.
  12. Most clutch kits have the slave cylinder included with it.
  13. Punxsatawney Phil has been beheaded.
  14. It's only for an upper control arm, wood should be plenty strong enough. Probably use hotmelt to attach it.
  15. Saggy leafs will not lift you as much over new specs, but it will lift you the same amount over where you were before the lift.
  16. Fully restored would mean correct wheels and rear bumper. Both are aftermarket and those wheels are ghastly. The other one is also too high for having been in an accident with damage not repaired.
  17. I've dealt with a few 4wd AX-4/5s, but have never seen this. Have a pic? I only have one AX5 left, and it is currently under my truck.
  18. 2wd ax4/ax5 and 4wd ax4/ax5 should mount the same, using the same bracket. Only difference is the 4wd one will have a transfer case hanging off the back of it. The transfer case is bolted to the transmission using 5 bolts. The transmission bolts to the crossmember using a transmission mount. 4 bolts from the mount to the crossmember, 3 bolts from the mount to the transmission. The transfer case flange and transmission actually have 6 holes to bolt them together, but for some reason I have not yet discovered, one of them always seems to have a plastic plug in it instead of a sixth bolt.
  19. Rear SOA usually nets you around 5.5" actual lift. But since the rear sits higher than the front in stock form, it usually works out well paired with 6.5" lift in the front. Be aware that to do it right, cost goes up pretty much exponentially with lift amount.
  20. Huh? Can anybody translate this?
  21. Can get 4 tires, 85% tread with wheels for $600. I explained to my daughter to do that I will probably not be wheeling it AT ALL this year. She talked me out of it because of that. So as of now this tread is just for speculation. Just not feasible to go that big and actually get back on the trails at some time (relatively) soon.
  22. Specifically, under the front. I know I can make the back work, but does anybody know what it will take to fit a 46x19.50x16.5 tire under the front of a Comanche? fenders will probably be taken off full width (67" wms to wms) axle What width wheel? What backspacing? How much lift?
  23. Had not thought of this, but it sure sounds like a good idea.
