The 05 is the same as an 08 Dakota and the bolt pattern is 5x5.5 not the JK 5x5... CJ rims will fit on your Dakota but NOT JK unless you use wheel spacer adapters...

Truck just shuts off when turn on heater fan
Jeepman replied to Northup's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Funny... I just bought a 92XJ that has this same problem only the power dies when you turn on the Blower fan... I have not looked into it since I am just parting it out anyways... Should I figure something while tearing it apart I will let you know but my guess is the Computer... -
I was parting out Jeeps for extra cash before I started doing it for a living and Found a Silver MJ in Toronto for $400.00 and Brought it home to part out but the Girlfriend liked it and I decided to fix it up for her... Then I was told about a pair of MJ's one Red and one Black in Waterdown and Picked up the pair for $400.00 and the Black one was in better body condition then the Silver so I parted out the Silver and Red ones and Fixed up the Black one for her but I ended up keeping it since having a truck was so nice to not have to use my CJ and trailer every time I need top go to the scrapper to unload some steel + she wanted it left stock and I had no interest in leaving it a 2WD low to the ground truck...

Shortbed MJ fuel tank swap?
Jeepman replied to idahoeagle's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Xj Fuel senders are Wrong for the MJ tank because they are too short and turn the wrong way however if your not afraid to modify the XJ sender you can turn it into a proper MJ sender as I did 2 years ago for my HO conversion on my 89 MJ... I bought a Brand new XJ sender that matched my Swap year (if you do not match your year the gauge will read backwards) then I cut it and lengthed the tubing insde and rotated the filter to the proper size so it is easy to do just takes a little time and you will have a brand new MJ sender made from a XJ sender... Good luck -
Well the shape is similar however the 97+ uses the Bumper end cap to finish off the bottom of the flare so It might look odd unless you can incorperate the end cap... I was thinking of doing the OE flares when I first did my 98 Conversion and Was going to make a custom rear flare by plastic welding two rears together but instead I just went with Bushwackers for the ease and simplicity of replacement parts...

I did put up a thread regarding my MJ build and Yes I did all the interior and Dash, airbags and seats... http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=20788 I used a 15 gallon Dodge dakota fuel tank with the XJ sender in it for now until I can re-mold the 22 gallon Dodge dakota tank...

That switch is for NON Power windows and ONLY power Mirrors and it is still attached to the drivers door for anything 97-01 but I have yet to see anything 00-01 without power windows... MY MJ conversion has power mirrors ONLY and I have this switch you listed from Ebay...

I Converted an Auto but If you decide to do the conversion there will no longer be a Fuse block where it is now...
-
I agree with Pete and I have done the conversion your thinking of and I have an Offroad shop and it took me 6 months to re-do my truck and I am still not done yet with some of the minor stuff... Just change the tranny for now and Save the rest for a winter project or when you can do without the truck for a year...

YJ steering linkage on an MJ
Jeepman replied to Worlds Fastest Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
If anyone goes with the Rugged Ridge Kit which is a very nice kit But you will Have to replace the Tie rod End boots and change them to a Poly Boot if you have not done so already... When you do change them you will notice a major change in the performance of the steering as the Poly Boots will make the bar's tighter and not give you the sloppy steering feel even though the steering is not sloppy, as it is just some roll in the Tie rod which gives you that movement... -

Yup if it is a safety recall they have to keep it on the books until they fix it... One is for the 02 sensor and the second is a just a code so I am not sure what that is... Anyone can look up the info for recall's that is here and I have posted the site before... DC recalls By VIN
-
You have two outstanding Recalls on that 1987 MJ of yours... Your Build date is February 16 1987
-
It should fit... But you would have to make some sort of spacer to go between the Hitch and the bumper as the factory hitch is meant to bolt onto the bumper so the factory bumper drops down and the FEY bumper does not have the drop down that the factory bumper has so that is where the spacer would need to be added... Exactly how much I can not say as I am makeing my own hitch because getting the factory hitch is hard to get and I have yet to get one and I do have the FEY aftermarket bumper on my MJ...

Well this is Why I posted that Gear calculator as personel opion gets in the way all the time not to mention ego, we all drive differently and require different gearing based on how we drive... Just run the gear calculator I posted and you will get in the ballpark as to where you should be based on your needs...
-
The nice thing is you already have both sets of axles with the gearing already done so if you decide on going 3:73's and find it too sluggish then you can eaily swap out to the 4:10 axles... I am setup with 3:73 gears and 31x10.5x15's and a 4.0L HO (275HP) AW4 + I weigh in at 4000LBS and @100KPH (60MPH) I am at 2000RPM... I am currently 13MPG City and 18MPG Hwy I have installed an overhead console with fuel info to monitor my realtime MPG numbers so I try to get as good as I can but I am too hard on the accelerator some times as the truck is too much fun to drive... I will be upgrading to 33's which will lower my RPM and may have to upgrade to 4:10's in my near future..
-
This is the Factory Bumper and it was either Painted Or Chrome... And according to my Mopar Factory Parts manual there was only one other factory optioned rear bumper and it was a Tube Bumper which I think are rare to see... This is the only aftermarket Replacement rear bumper available that I know of and it is painted or chrome...
-
I do not think that is a factory Rear Bumper... I have yet to see one that looks like that if it is a optional rear Bumper...
-
Here is a great site that I use alot... http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html Just plunk in your factory specs on one side and go nuts on the other and it will tell you all the numbers you need to know... Really your the only one who can tell you what gears to run based on your driving... I prefer to get my RPM's as close to stock as possible for the best economy if a DD which most trucks are some sort of DD... I hope this helps you some...
