Best axle ratio for swap.
Jeepman replied to JeepinSoldier's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
THE POINT IS THERE IS NO PERFECT WORLD... Going uphill or fighting Wind will always cause the engine to work harder maintaining a set speed otherwise you slow down Therfore there are always variables that can not be calculated and we are not talking about thousands of RPM's here... -
Best axle ratio for swap.
Jeepman replied to JeepinSoldier's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No one said the calculator had anything to do with correcting the speedometer gear it is mearly to simulate engine RPMs by axle ratio and tire size.. You must live in a perfect world with no hills and no wind... -

Best axle ratio for swap.
Jeepman replied to JeepinSoldier's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You should email the host of the calculator so he can correct the mistake if there is any so it can be updated as needed... Now it is an online calculator and NO calculator should be taken as 100% acurate since they do not cover all variables such as wind and hills etc... It is just meant to be a tool to simulate RPM's rather then a trial and error actually changing gear ratio's to find that perfect Number... -

Best axle ratio for swap.
Jeepman replied to JeepinSoldier's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The Gear Calculator has nothing to do with speedometer? it is to simulate different gear ratio's and tire sizes etc, to figure out the RPM range you should expect... -

Jeepman replied to JeepinSoldier's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here is a nice Gear calculator To help you figure out the RPM's the engine will be turning with each different gear ratio then you can make a better choice based on the RPM's you want to be running... http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html -

Jeepman replied to The_Devils_own's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
For the XJ's and MJ's up to 1990 I have not seen anything store bought so you would have to make your own but it has been years since I looked... Yes it is only Cold air intake if you can actually Get cold air, But an open element filter is Way better then a stock boxed in Filter... Here is a good Gear Calculator that I use often... http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html -
I will check my collection and see if I have one...

dakota 22 gallon tank and fuel pump
Jeepman replied to 99Manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
More then likely the dakota tank info came from me since I used it 2 years ago in my 97+ conversion however I just used the 98XJ sender for the time being and I never noticed a problem but I never ran it lower then half tank because it is not as deep as the dakota tank the only thing I was not happy with which I changed later was I tried to make the dakota tank match inlets like the MJ tank.... I just recently switched from the 15G dakota tank to the 22G dakota tank (92 Tank) I used a dakota 22G sender and it was a Bosh Assembly for a 97-04 dakota and the most important thing is the fuel sender resistance is correct for the 97+ conversion... The small tank is my old 15G dakota tank and the rear larger tank is the 22G dakota tank that I just swapped in... Image Not Found This is a super easy install now that I have worked out all the details, so if you want a 15 or 22G Tank for your 97+ conversion I suggest doing this... I drilled the sender and added my Filler vent and rollover valve where it should be on the 92 Tank I am using and it workd out perfectly... I used a Mopar Repair kit #05013987AA for my pigtail harness to convert the dakota sender connector to the Jeep sender connector which I just cut off my old XJ sender... Image Not Found -
You will need to take your sender to a fuel tank repair shop to get your sender rebuilt or you can ship it off to companies on the net to get yours rebuilt... I made an MJ sender out of a New XJ sender, way back when I was still Renix system before I did my 97+... Good luck

My 1989 Jeep Comanche Eliminator
Jeepman replied to Jeepman's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
These 31's that I am running are a winter tire and measure up as a 30" tire... Here is a Front view... Image Not FoundImage Not Found A few months back I Finally Upgraded my Rear D44a with a Spartan Locker and Alloy USA Chomoly Shafts... This Week I Just Got around to upgrading my tank and I am just about finished which I will save for tomorrow, from my first conversion 15 gallon tank to a 22 Gallon tank alot more BS the the 15G tank to make fit but I prefer to have as large a fuel tank as possible... Image Not Found Now I have to build a Custom Skid plate to protect it but that is much later... Next is my Front axle in the near future... For the front axle I am installing a Spartan D30 Locker and A Alloy USA Hub Conversion and Chromoly Shafts and the WJ Bigger brakes and top it off with my Rough Country Long arm upgrade kit which has been in the box for a few years now... -

Not MJ, But XJ...Intake swap help
Jeepman replied to XxStirCrazedxX's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The intakes are the exact same except for what you already mentioned which is the PS mount... So you either change the PS pump and mounting bracket to match the 96+ intake or you get creative and make the 94 PS pump bolt onto the newer intake... Oh or just get the 91-95 intake manifold and keep it simple... -
What's the most miles you got from a full tank?
Jeepman replied to Jerry's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My 97+ MJ 4.0L with some mild upgrades and 4.5" lift, Too tall a gear set on 31's with the AW4 and I get about 400KM to a 15 galllon tank if I run it empty... I have plans to get this up to 600KM with the little 15 Gallon tank... -

I never seen or heard that Quote from him But my Friend Who works for Chysler said he heard the CEO in an "Internal" interview that the New Jeep Truck which is suposed to be comeing out soon "is a Better then 50% chance it will be based on the gladiator concept" Regardless of the Quotes we all know that they will go with the cheapest option not the best so if they sell enough of these they will convience themselves that the market is now shrunk so there is no need for a Actual Jeep Truck even though they have been teasing us since 05 with the gladiator concept and keep promising that one is comming soon I know they are all about the cheap so cheaper usually wins over Public demand...
-
I think it is Horrible and NOT at all a pickup... And I would not give up my MJ for that but if they actually do make a Real Pickup Next year then I would for sure more so if it actually resembles the Gladiator concept... I can not see too many people spending the $5500.00 on it to convert a JK Unlimited to a JK Half assed truck... You can watch the Youtube Video of MOPAR building one of these...

What 5-speed transmission do I have?
Jeepman replied to Zoom By You's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There was no "HD" for the manual transmission. 1989 was a mid-year change from the Peugeot BA10/5 to the AX-15. Early 89's got the Pukegoat, late 89s got the AX-15. Just have to crawl under and see which it is. No $#!& the AX15 is Not a HD transmission but it is if you compair it to the BA/10, Chrysler Distigushed between the two By Saying "DDX 5-Speed HD Manual Transmission " to identify between the two transmissions to make you feel good...
