Not a XJ/MJ but a jeep http://www.dieselbombers.com/diesel-engine-conversions/58670-mercedes-om617-5-cyl-turbo-diesel-engine-swap-jeep-wrangler-yj-conversion.html just google it, there are some good builds I just can't remember where I read them right now.

Still debating between doing a simple 2.5 to 4.0 swap or 2.5 to 5.3(L33) swap. The LSx swap will only cost me slightly more then a 4.0. 4.0L h.o. 515lbs. 190h.p. 16-19mpg(on a good day) 5.3L vortec L33 425lbs. 310h.p. 16-19mpg in a jeep on 35s Putting a LSx into a jeep is pretty common and economical these days, plenty of reading here: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=735270

"EL Comostache" 87 MJ Daily Driver/ Weekend warrior build.
HKB3 replied to SteveO's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Is the 92 a stick or auto? If it is an auto do you want to sell the fusebox/wiring harness? -
I am sort of the same boat, from what I gather first step would be the epoxy/etch primer then complete all the body work. Second step would be a sealer primer then base coat, then clear(if using base/clear).

Sure it was....on the Eastern shore even. The pic is just a random google image I found comparing a Comanche to a JK-8 :typing:
-
I stopped at a jeep dealership to look over a JK-8 a few weeks ago(never seen one in person). I like it but they are WAAAAAY too much $$$$$...it was 53k

I guess there is value in my 2.5 to sell when I swap to a 4.0L.

Sorry about the pic size, I am posting from my phone. That is a rubicon(not mine) with 255/85-16 tires on the stock Moabs.

What is it worth? D44 ARB air locker (RD116) and ARB OBA
HKB3 replied to lostissues's topic in The Pub
I could put that to good use but not ready to buy right now. Take a look on some other sites and see what they are selling for, pirate4x4,NAXJA, ect... -
sorry for the hi-jack, 255/85-16 are what you are looking for. They are about 33" tall I had 33x10.5s on my TJ only because I got tired of looking for moabs at a reasonable price.

Project "no Direction" 1992 Comanche Build
HKB3 replied to HKB3's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Made a little progress on the rust repair: I located a donor XJ but it is an auto but the price is good. I just need to decide donor XJ or a mig welder for home? It sucks to have to drag stuff all the way to my work to use their welder. I also picked up a Wagoneer D44 front axle. :clapping: -
Looking for hood vents Thanks
-
Thanks for the info, after pulling the wheels I found that mine is like in the pic above which is nit the same as a 4wd. On a side note I just picked up a wagoneer front Dana 44. w00t!!!
-
I need to replace the front brakes on my Comanche, it is a 92 2wd. Just wanted to know if 4 wheel drive share the same rotors/calipers as the 2wd. I have not really looked at the truck yet but it appears that it has a unit bearing just like a 4wd without the stub shaft. The reason I am asking is I have a 4wd swap planned down the road and don't want to buy parts twice.

Project "no Direction" 1992 Comanche Build

Project No Direction: Starting on the rust repair: Btw the build date is 9/1991 -
After buying my first MJ in 2006 (a 1987 swb 4x4/4.0/5speed) I have wanted to build myself an all purpose truck. While I had my first MJ I was living in a place with only one parking space so I had to store it elsewhere which made it hard to find time to work on it. I ended up selling it about 3 years ago. Fast forward to this year, I picked up a 1992 swb/2wd/2.5 98% rust free. I have replaced the fuel tank and just getting started on some rust repair over the passenger rear wheel. Now that I have a garage I can work on it when ever I like. My plans for it are always changing, that is where "no direction" came from. For now I am planning on swapping in A/C, power windows & locks and a new fuse panel from an XJ. I already have a D300 and a home built flip kit for it. Stay tuned for updates but be warned this is going to be a slow build. The first MJ now sold

I may go Sunday, I won't be driving my MJ though.
