maddzz1 replied to centralnc's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs

Diagnosis - Ignition Switch Problem
maddzz1 replied to centralnc's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Actually, I don't think it is a fusible link. Just the red wire coming off the post/screw on the starter relay; it runs into a wire loom then toward the battery. If the wire looks good I would try putting a new ring terminal on it and cleaning up the connections. Post back and let us know if it works. I was reading jeepforum today too, where someone had a similar problem and he said it ended up being something unplugged up near the firewall near where the wiper motor is. I don't know what that could be tho :dunno: -

If your MJ is like mine, and has no floors, you may be able to do it w/out removing the interior. My seat actually tilts toward the door  -
Diagnosis - Ignition Switch Problem
maddzz1 replied to centralnc's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This is the exact question that helped me find the comancheclub. For me, it was a wire (fusible link) connected to the starter motor relay. Its located near the battery abd has a lot of wires going to a pin/screw. I can check which color wire it was if you want. I ended up having a shop do it because I couldnt track it down. I'm pretty sure its the one with the nice shiney connector on it ;) LMK and ill check the color of the wire -

Cheapest gas tanks???? please look
maddzz1 replied to one_bad_MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not sure on price but alot of the aftermarket tanks don't have the pan inside the tank. Not sure if the pan is to keep the fuel pump from overheating or if it has other purpose. -
My 89 pioneer has full skids but no tow hooks and my 94XJ is the country edition but has no tow hooks and a plastic gas tank skid. So I assume that none of this was standard, just a bunch of options you could mix and match?

Another example of someones rich parents buying their kid a car that has no appreciation for it.

Hey Wayne, We should take a ride to that place off 44. We can take the XJ

Never saw one of these cars before. Was watching a show this weekend and they had one on. Kinda looks like a duster/charger hybrid. Only made them foer one year tho. http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/feat ... index.html

The 97+ valve cover has a solid baffle instead of the towers like ours has. mjeff87 has a write-up either in the DIY section or in his build thread. You need to use the 97+ gasket with it. Spend the xtra money for the rubber felpro gasket, the black one with the grommets

Son breaks rear end..dad fixes
maddzz1 replied to brian's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
First, I would like to say that for such a long post Bob, There is not nearly enough smilies in it for you. To the OP, this may be a good opportunity to replace the front axle too and get 3.55's in the front and back. You could probally find a donor XJ for the same price as what the rear axle will cost you. It shouldnt cost much to have a shop weld new perches on top the axle for you. -
Taz had worked out a deal with someone to get a 10% discount on injectors for CC members. A few guys on here are using them, I have a set but havent put them in yet. If you are interested I'm sure someone remembers the site name or I can get it off the paperwork, just LMK

He is asking about the clutch master cylinder, not the brake master cylinder and booster. I'm glad you pointed that out because I was gonna add to what Tom posted.

Pete, Is it possible for you to add the directions for resizing a pic for an avatar along with the required size to Taz's pic posting sticky. I know you have posted it 1000 times in posts. Thanks

I agree. If you can find a relatively rust free 2WD, compared to a rusty 4WD don't hesitate to get the 2WD. And the donor cherokee is the way to go instead of finding parts. You may just need to get the driveshaft cut down. Everything else should be a direct swap, as long as they both have the same engine. You will just have to make sure the gearing in the cherokee is the same as the MJ since the MJ is spring under and the XJ is spring over Also, add your location to your user info. Youd be surprised how many people around here are willing to help you out if they are local

Wait for him in the parking lot and smash him in the head with the little red tool box. If that doesnt work, talk to him respectfully about the problem. ;) I would definately talk to him first, before going to his superior.
