  1. so here's the story.. one day out of no where i hit the brakes and my truck pulled to the left pretty hard and my truck was bouncing. I got out and noticed that my driver side lower control arm bracket that mounts on the front axle rusted off. I read somewhere that the Rubicon Express axle bracket would work for reconnecting the old control arm. I did notice that the bushings are very dry rotted and cracked but i did not order new bushings. Now when i put the Rubicon Express bracket next to the control arm they don't seem to match up( control arm bushings are approx. 1/4 inch wider. So my question is, if i get the Rubicon Express Bushings would those fit on my stock control arm and stilll match up with the axle bracket so i can repair my truck. I am a very busy person and I need my truck everyday for school or work. So recently ive been driving without using the brakes so i have been downshifting to stop. I am afraid that more will break if i continue to do this so any help at all is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE REPLY
  2. http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store/rubicon-express-lower-control-bracket-left-re9993-p-9969.html would this bracket match up with the lower control arm of 1989 comanche? I can't use my brakes and downshifting gets scary sometimes so this needs to be fixed ASAP please let me know ill be checking every day. THANK YOU
  3. I'm pretty sure that goes to the back of the airbox. look to see if there is a spot for it to go and you got it. try napa for the vacuum hoses
  4. ^^ exactly what i need to finish my project, please ones with no rust! just pm me if interested!
  5. I went to O'reilly's and bought a new fuse and soon as i put it in it blew, so I'm pretty sure there is a short somewhere in the wire. :wall:
  6. I am pretty sure no brake fluid has dripped onto my fuse panel. So i should just follow the wires from my fuse panel to my rear tail lights looking for any abrasion or cuts in the wire? how would i go about fixing that if the wires were damaged?
  7. i have downloaded the wiring manual but I am new to working on vehicles and no one around to help me out. Do you have any ideas where the ground connections are exactly on my truck so that would make things a little easier for me
  8. I beleieve that a previous owner spliced in a trailer light wiring harness in the back and messed things up. but how would i go aabout fixing that?
  9. I was pulled over last night for not having any running tailights. my brake lights and blinkers do work though. I have a 1989 comanche 4.0 litre I6 manual tranny, 2wd. 142,000 miles. About 4 weeks ago i started getting the smell of an electrical fire, wasnt sure so i pulled over to check everything, when i was looking for it i couldnt help to notice a good amount of smoke coming from around my feet and a fuse was completely melted and i needed pliers to take it out. Now i am without dash lights, running lights in the rear and front parking lights. I received a waivable ticket that if i fix it withing 10 days i don't get penalized. My best guess is that i have a bad ground somewhere. Can someone tell me exactly where it is and what i need to do to get to it and make a new connection. :help:
  10. i live near metro detroit, willing to come pick it up if close. it must me 100% rust-free! just pm me with what you got!
  11. Thanks Eagle this will greatly improve my driving skills now!!! i was shifting closer to like 2800 and 3000 rpm. From now on i willl be shifting like an old lady letting my synchronizers do their job. I'm serious this is very valuable information for me! thank you!
  12. yes, other gears seem to shift normal, other than reverse. i will try to put it in reverse but doesnt go all the way in but reverse lights come on, so i simply move stick back to neutral position and try once more and it usually works on the second try! its not a huge concern of mine but its something i would really like to get fixed!
  13. I have a 1989 jeep comanche 4.0 litre I6 manual transmission 2wd, only 141,xxx miles. i just bought the vehicle so i am new with jeeps, but the guy said it has a new clutch kit. what i am wondering is why do i have to almost jam my shift stick into 2nd gear either slowing down or speeding up? i am only 17 and never really mechanical with vehicles, first stick car too so I need some detailed answers and how to fix it along with the parts i need and how much i should be looking to spend. all replies are greatly appreciated!!!
