Need Fender Flares 4x4 Comanche
maddzz1 replied to littlezeeker's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think so too. The ones that don't fit are probally from a cherokee, since he said they were from a sport No cherokee rear flares will fit. Put a post in the WTB section, someone on here will have a set. -
Carb Question need answer asap
maddzz1 replied to 86ComancheXNate's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If its the one on the bottom with the wire, the black thing will just pop off if you pry gently with a screwdriver -
I would check the way you grounded the radio. Ill bet its back feeding thru the system. Pull your new radio abd see if it fixes it, try hooking the orig radio back up. Ill bet it fixes it. My XJ does some strange things because of the way the PO has the radio wired too. I think he also has the ghround back-feeding thru the system. If I turn the headlights on with the jeep off the radio will turn on. If I dim the dash lights while driving the radio will turn off.

Look up renix to HO conversion. You are also gonna need all the wiring from the donor, the ecu, and you are gonna have to splice into the rear harness for the taillights. The 96 also has the open cooling system. Do you have an entire 96 XJ as a donor?

Axle HELP!!!Comanche HELP!!!
maddzz1 replied to cjgolfer7's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It might not be a problem with the transfer case thats causing it to not go into 4WD. My guess is the vacuum lines for the CAD are bad. You should shim the shift fork over first and see if that fixes the problem. here's the link: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18415&hilit=cad -
No Cold Weather Start - 1989 - 6 cyl EFI
maddzz1 replied to Buckeye Charly's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like it could be an intermitent CPS problem. Next time it happens unplug the CPS connector and plug it back in, then see if it starts. The only thing that makes me think it may be something else is that you said it actually starts for a second. My truck did this today, would crank but not turn over. I unplugged the CPS connector then plugged it back in and it started right up. -
Thanks, hadn't though about that. What about the 96 washer bottle? If your talking about the washer bottle that mounts up inside the fender, Don (hornbrod) did a nice writeup on it. here's the link: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5840

The problem with switching the pedal support bracket is that on the auto MJ the shift cable is connected to the bracket. Because the XJ is a floor shift the bracket is different. So when I swapped for the 95-96 booster I also made the MJ a floor shift and then I could use the support bracket from the XJ with the newer style brake switch

Everything from the cab forward should be interchangable with a few exceptions. Drivelines are almost the same too, except rare axlea are spring under on the MJ and the rare driveshaft is a diff length

Tranny Coolant Line "Repair" Kit
maddzz1 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don, when I did mine I bought the new metal piece that screws in to the tranny. It had the white plastic piece with it. I couldnt get the tranny line to seat into it right tho. I ended up having to unscrew the metal piece from the tranny and then seating the tranny line into the connector then screwing it to the tranny. Dorman part# 800714 Jim, this is the connector on the front end of the tranny return line that plugs into the oil cooler. And the first time I've used an aftermarket connector instead of the factory one. I got it to seat finally, but destroyed one in the process. I WILL have a stash of NOS factory connectors soon. :D -
How to remove door trim panel?
maddzz1 replied to cicelyak's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I never disconnect the rods for the door handle. Once the door panel is off I just turn it so that the bezel for the door handle slides thru the hole. -

Go to atdhe.net or ilemi.com and just click the link for the game you want. You may have to download veetle for some of the links

I agree with jim on this one. Id tell the neighbors but wouldnt want to appear to rubbing the ordinance guys nose in anything. I would be sure to tell the person who was complaining if you know who they are tho, so you can rub there face in it, especially if they don't know you know it was them.

There is a writeup on naxja I think on how to switch your odometer to match. If I remember from doing mine, you just take the tumbler assembly out, remove the c clip, and slide each number over one at a time and spin it till its where you want it. when they are all set slide them back and put the c clip back on. Someone will prob post the link for your

how to remove door lock cylinder
maddzz1 replied to drase's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No you don't need to remove the glass. If the clip holding it in is stuck, like mine were, remove the black rubber thing on the side of the door (its actually a plug to give you access to a bolt for the door handle) and stick a long screwdriver in there against the clip and tap it with a hammer. -
I say if you like it don't stop. I routinely come home very drunk and have my wife inform me of what happened when i got home (she likes to drink to tho). A few weeks ago I woke up and she asked where my shoes, socks and shirt were; i had no idea. After piecing some things together, I apparently fell down outside the bar and decided to take a shower when i got home and found my clothes in the upstairs bathroom later that afternoon.

Another overheating thread...
maddzz1 replied to terrawombat's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Any chance someone switched the lower hose at some point and didnt put the spring in the new one? and it is collapsing when the truck warms up? If not, I would swap the radiator from your parts MJ, along with the temp sensor. Since it hasnt actually overheated maybe the sender isnt working right and sending wrong temps to the gauge -
Congrats, Mike
