WIX is THE brand I use. I have tried others in the past with a number of problems for oil pressure to no flow to one burst filter!!! That one was a FORD filter!! WIX makes a great filter, you won't regret switching to them. CW

Ford Ranger light bar on my MJ...
CWLONGSHOT replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Brent, I have a SPLASH roll bar in my MJ. It was WAY narrow, if you remember my posts. It was pretty easy to cut and weld in a tube to make it fit. I'll bet this one will not bee too narrow. I will look GREAT!! BTW, once your buddie hears its been totaled, GET MOVING!!! Once the insurance co gets ahold of it there is NO TURNING back!! Besides, its doesn't matter to them anyway, this is NOT a important part of the truck and will likely be considered a add on and NEVER missed!! the rims WILL be. Unless you have something to put on in there place. Shortly after the wife totaled out our WJ I went down to the auto body place to remove some lights and things I had added. The driver of the flat bed for the insurance company arrived shortly after. He walked up to my wife and made a smart @$$-ed comment like, what was I doing to "HIS" jeep. He shut up quick and changed his tune as I got out from under the jeep and looked down on him. I told him that It was my name on the title of this jeep and I was removing my personal property. He was going to wait until I was finished. He did. CW -
Custom tranny crossmember/skidplates...
CWLONGSHOT replied to A-man930's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I also made a skid plate that is welded to the factory crossmember. Works good so far..... CW -
I do not have a pic, but there IS supposed to be a rubber piece followed mt the "brush" that you see from inside the cab. I would think you should be able to make something yourself to help eliminate this problem. CW

I agree with Pat, They are for switches. As the MJ shares the wiring harness with the XJ, there are a number of switches that fit in those four slots at the base of the instrument panel. Some never even avalible in the MJ. Fog lites, defroster, AW4's power/economy and one other I cannot remember... CW

Short, long, big, small? WHAT?
CWLONGSHOT replied to Geonovast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
BINGO!! There are NO stupid questions asked here. Your only stupid if you don't ask, assume you know, and that causes a problem or damage!! Simply put, you don't know until you know. ;) :brows: Some of us have the advantage of being around this world a bit longer, others work daily with this stuff, some BOTH!!! CW -
I think you made a good call. I read from the beginning, but didn't comment as so many others mirrored my opinions. The Tru-Trac is a great LS if not the best. I have seen only one other LS snap an axle, that's an aggressive limited slip!! You will LOVE everything about this diff!! CW

This is always my FIRST choice in oil filters. WIX makes GREAT oil filters!! FYI, NAPA filters are made by WIX CW

39 !!!! What you building now man???? Hows it hangin' dude, good to hear from ya!! CW

I do not know who's it is either.. But I'll venture a guess that its a 2-3" lift with almost a 31" tire. As far as copying or building yours the same. IMHO, its the GREATEST form of flattery. GO FOR IT!!! CW

What to do ifA you overheated
CWLONGSHOT replied to Bansheemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had a frozen radiator earlier this year. So, I also overheated as there was no fluid flowing thru the cooling system. I replaced the blown hose, replaced the Tstat and changed the oil/filter. Later on I found that I had also split the radiator, so I also bought a new one of those... That's what I did... CW -
On my way to work this AM, I noticed a burning smell, like brakes. Al mine are new last spring, so I figured someone near me must have some issues......NOT!! I walked around the jeep and touched each rim. Lo and behold the rear pass side was pretty hot!!! I only have a short trip and its all back roads, so I decided to just drive home easy. Half way there, I found my braking power severely diminished!! I removed the wheel and drum and look what I found.... I also had some lining fall out on the ground... I THINK I found my problem...now to find out why.... Everything appears to be fine, the wheel cylinder works and releases. Springs are/where all new and these where quality brakes. All I can figure is that maybe the adjusters tightened up this side a bit more and heated and caused the adhesive failure. Dunno, but kinda scary.... Well I got to trim my wheel studs and again put on my spacers.... Its seemingly all fine now. I'll swap tires to my wheeling tires for the up coming season and re check and adjust everything. One more thing...damn limited slip in the ECTED is so tight it makes adjusting shoes by feel damn near impossible!!!! CW

rollbar in 90 LB comanch
CWLONGSHOT replied to james750's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a number of pics of mine in my build thread. Mine was from a Ford ranger SPLASH. I had to widen it to properly/aesthetically fit the MJ. the install is nothing... put it in so you like the look. Check under the bed to be sure there is access to the area you will need to drill. Drill and bolt it in... CW OH yea.. be sure to take pics along the way and POST THEM!!! -
At 15.5 inches wide, your REALLY gonna need to work at making these fit a MJ!!!! 15 X 10 is a MUST!! I prefer 8's but I also won't run a tire wider than 12.5". Even then I much prefer the 10.5 width for the XJ/MJ. CW
