  11. Guys, don't get confused.. There are straps that DO and those that DO NOT stretch! The straps that do not stretch are for TOWING, NOT vehicle recovery form the mud. For removing vehicles stuck in the mud you need a strap that stretches. Pete is spot on NO HOOKS on the strap!!! Concerning the winch cable... It too can also work, but what kind of winch are you using that only uses 20' of cable, let alone such a light cable? A winch properly sized for our jeeps needs to be a MINIMUM of 6500 Lbs. A 8000 Lbs is a more sensible minimum and a 9500Lb is NOT overboard!! The cable in your hand is 1/4 or 3/16" in diameter. You need 1/2" or 3/8" diameter cable. FORGET about any ATV winch. These are NOT intended to pull and 2500Lb jeep even tho the rating says it can. When sizing a winch for a vehicle you need a minimum of three times the vehicle weight. Here is a write up I found that outlines proper strap usage. http://www.offroaders.com/tech/Tow_Straps.htm PLEASE use them properly and with RESPECT. Doing things wrong can and will KILL YOU!!! CW
  12. You GOTTA read this!!! MOST STUPID PRESIDENTIAL STATEMENT What Idiotic thing will come next ????? THIS MOST UNBELIEVABLE PRESIDENT? HERE IS HIS RESPONSE WHEN HE BACKED OFF FROM HIS DECISION TO REQUIRE THE MILITARY PAY FOR THEIR OWN WAR INJURIES. Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty. The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal. "Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute.." "I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country, "Obama continued "I wasn't asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans." Please pass this on to every one including every vet and their families whom you know. How in the world did a person with this mindset become our leader? REMEMBER THIS STATEMENT... "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice?" If he thinks he will ever get another vote from an Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard service member or veteran of a military service he ought to think it over.. If you or a family member is or has served their country please pass this to them.
  13. ITS FOR SALE!!! YUP, I am selling my MJ!! :secret: Most of you know what it is and what its got. But if you do not, most of the extensive list modifications and upgrades is outlined here. viewtopic.php?t=1230 It has 93K original miles. AW4 automatic, PS, PB, 4WD. A nice stereo, great speakers and nice seats. There is really nothing wrong with it, simply stated, I need a bigger truck. Something that can pull a larger trailer. It is a great running, driving and wheeling truck. I really like owning and driving it. The one thing I am keeping is the new set of Cooper tires. It will be sold with the 33x9.5x15 BFG MTs. My asking price is $4000 as you see it in last pics. Spread the word. CW
  14. Yesterday we got the brake controller for the Jeep. Today we are going to install it and run the wires for the brakes on the trailer then see if she works!! I also picked up a big U bolt, like 8" big. Gonna cut and weld it to the gate as a handle. I also picked up a Kryptonite cable with a "eye" on one end and a loop on the other. I am going to put the eye thru the next plate I make for the lock down of the quads. If I like it I was take apart the first one and add one to it as well. Plcs later... CW
  15. Thank you everyone. . . We are on the cusp of yet another MJOM!!! Who will it be next????? CW
  16. We haven't picked them up yet. . . . But we have been working on the trailer!! Added brakes, a CO2 mount and LOWES diamond plate box and tiedowns for the machines. its almost ready, gotta wire the brakes still. I didn't have quite enough wire and EW is closed now... so maybe tomarrow. CW
  17. With a 3" lift, they will be very nice fit! CW
  18. TJ ruby rims have a bit less BS to better fit with the wider tire. It is known that a 30x9.50x15 fits very well on a factory rim. MOST are also able to run a 31x10.5x15 with minor LCA contact at full lock. These ruby tires and rims are bascilly 31's and "should" fit ok. Try them and see if you like them, worst case you get a bit of contact on the LCA in tite turns. IMHO thay are very nice looking on a MJ!!! CW
  19. Maybe I should re-think the trailer. . . . CW
  20. Tecnically, no it isn't legal. But its is allowed and something everyone seems to do. My machine came from the factory with one seat, but the PO added a second seat/cargo box. It sits partially on the main seat and partially on the rear rack and the seat back incorperates the rear cargo box. It is very secure and quite comfortable. Remember this is trail riding, not blasting threw the dunes or hi speed bermed corners. Speeds from 10 to 25 MPH. :smart: CW
  21. I like it allot too!!! Gotta search the scrap tent at my steel guy for some thinner tubing and square stock. I was set of round, but now that I see that square stock rotated like that I am really liking the look! Like you say, nothing crazy I should be able to duplicate a good looking, not too heavy yet strong facsimile!! I too really like the Sportsmans looks!!! CW
  22. GOOD JOB Gary! Looks great, Oh yea 3000K is "just enough" to lift and maneuver the plow!! LOL Here is my Polaris, more and better pics soon: I want to build some plastic protection for the front and rear. Found some nice looking stuff for ideas. . . Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found CW
  23. NICE I like what Polaris offers! CW
  24. UPDATE: Pop made it home, SO ANXIOUS to PU his quad next week... I got the trailer registered and home. I also found a quad! 2007 Polaris Sportsman 700. Its a used machine , but with only 42 miles. It includes a plow, 2500lb Warn winch and a second seat/storage box in the back. We should be able to pick them both up late next week. CW
