I have used the hi-lift to pop a bead many times on the trail. Using the hi-lift jacking the vehicles weight to pop the bead and my CO2 to re-seat it once repairs are complete. Its cake doing it in the driveway!! CW

Solid cooling system upgrades?
CWLONGSHOT replied to cocco78's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I know a lot of people swear by red-line. Not sure exactly how it works, the only way I can think it would help is if it change the viscosity(the surface tension of the water) Well, I added it to my rad yesterday. Time will tell, I'll post back and let everyone know if there is any differences. I also picked up the 180 T-stat to throw in. But I'll wait a week or two and see if this "juice" made any differences. CW -
Over heating situation!!
CWLONGSHOT replied to pentonkid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Its virtually impossible to accurately diagnose this on the Internet.. BUT, I would start with a flush and fresh fluids. Al-tho I have never overheated mine, I do not like the temps in the summer on the freeway above 65MPH. I have a new three core rad, new heater core, new hoses, clutch fan and all fluids. STILL, I have the temps climb to almost 240 on my fact gauge. That's another point of contention... I don't trust my fact gauge. Normally, I don't travel even that fast. Remember, we have old trucks, they where never made to be go fast vehicles. Good luck, CW -
Thanks guys. Yea I know about the wider models... I like the look and feel of the narrower tires on my MJ. I run BOTH 33x10.5 BFG AT's and 33x9.5 BFG MT's. I simply prefer the 9.50s. :D Here she is on 10.50's: Here she is on 9.50's: CW

Thanks dirty!!   We planned on finishing today... then the wiring began...... :fs1: :headpop: :fs1: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop:  Better than two hours chasing troubles, only to find that the vehicle we assumed was perfect...wasn't!!! Once that was discovered, we quickly finished the wiring. We ran the wiring in rubber straps attached to the frame with 1/4-20 bolts. nice and clean. Finished the decking retaining straps. We headed to where the stump grinder was for a "fitting" Everything was perfect, tongue weight less very manageable with grinder loaded. No scale was handy, but seemed good. Everything was good, so we headed back home to finish the fenders. Most of the trailer is painted and all that's left is the tin for the inside of the wheel wells. CW

Its happened to me a couple times as well. I used to never watch my pay stubs. But recently I have found more and more simple stupid errors. (Almost always against me...) Its in your best interest to watch this stuff. Yup, talk to your supervisor or is you have a payroll dept. Speak directly with them. (This is what I do.) Lastly if you have a human resources that could also help with the long term prevention. CW

Not Discontinued. :D {according to this anyway, old PN disc, new number put in service): http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/s ... p?p=381664 Onlinetires.com is listing them (and they're on sale) http://www.onlinetires.com/ That dosent look like the size tire I am looking for. The size I am running and would like to replace is 33x9.5x15 BFG MT. (Or its replacement MT tire) According to the BFG site, my size is no longer avalible. The AT version IS, but not the MT. BUT, it looks like I have a couple offerings that will be close. If I switch to the 16" rim dia. The 235/85R/16 and 255/85R/16 are 32 and 33.3" tall respectively, with close width to the 9.5''s I like so much. CW

Many people are going this route with trucks. better truck tires are avalible. I too may be doing this. Mine for a couple reasons... My factory phone dials are loosing air from repeated airing down allowing sand abd grit into the beads. My preferd tire size 33x9.5 is discontinued in the BFG MUD. :fs1: and mine altho still ahve a year or mores life left, are getting worn. SO, I'm looking at some 285/85/16's.... CW

GOOD JOB!! A fresh coat of black rustoleum REALLY "freshens" up the look!!! I LOVE IT!! CW

Mine are a bit different.. they have a series of lights all around the outside edge of the bulb. SO, I guess they are different after all. My TJ has a set of DELTA H4 lenses. those have the small colored bulb you guys are speaking of. I am going to upgrade the wiring to 12Ga and see if that improves the light output. CW

BINGO!!! :D I have one for each of my trail rigs. GREAT tool!! Both run guns and fill tires, air mattresses at will with volume to spare. I have a 20# and a smaller 10#. Both with variable regulators. I have been known to turn up the pressure to get that very stubborn bolt off a time or two.... :shake: :shake: :shake:  CW

I started on my front bumper tonight.... Didn't get too far when I realized I didn't like that push bar I put on last year..... I really want protection for the winch... guess i need to make some!! First thing was I needed to re-mount up the lites as I really didn't want to cut them off. The little pieces I chopped off my rear shock mounts worked perfectly as light tabs!! This allowed the lites to be mounted up under the winch for max protection. MUCH cleaner then where they where!! CW

Solid cooling system upgrades?
CWLONGSHOT replied to cocco78's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
While I don't have any overheating, I do notice the temps climbing on a hot day when above 65MPH. OR, hot days on the trail crawling along. I'm not so certain that the fact temp gauge is not accurate. BUT, its still makes me uneasy when I see the temps climbing. I wired up a A/C fan and this helps for sure. You can SEE the gauge drop with in a couple minutes of turning it on. IIRC I have a 195 degree T-stat, and a new 3 core radiator. I want to throw in a 180 stat, but haven't done it as yet. I have read about the additives and ICE fluid that can be used in extreme applications. SO..Any one tried this "WATER WETTER"? http://www.redlineoil.com/products_coolant.asp CW -
Thanks, thats what I thought. I just couldn't remember the exact years or designation for the new wranglers... :shake: CW

I thought that when they changed, they went to 5X5, like the WJ? CW
