Thanks a bunch Don!! I really enjoyed building this project. Kinda sorry to see it concluding. Now I really want to build another...   :shake: I have some plans floating around in my head... 5" bed with 18-20 inch steel sides that are removable. With the front and rear sides doubling as deck extensions for 50"X 100" deck capacity. Utilizing Jeep lug/hubs and tires and rims. Maybe even thinned down XJ leafs and shocks. Kinda of a pseudo military off-road trailer. But lite and strong so its easily tow-able. My brother-in-law picked out a Metallic Gray. Its kind of dark, but will look nice. We have to remove the wiring and finish another coat of POR15 on the new steel and where I ground it off. Lastly the jacks need to be welded on in the rear and THEN, shoot it with color. CW

I moved my Hi-lift from the bed to the drivers side bed rail. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: I made up some aluminum plates and mounted the hi-lift mounts to that. Nice little project. I think it came put great. CW

Thank you.... Actually, I recently picked up the parts so I can do just that!! Can be swapped in maybe 15-20 Min's.....   :D

I finished up the gussets of diamond plate as well as the decking bracing. Then I cut and put on the decking and bed box. Looking GREAT, if I do say so myself!! CW

I didn't do anything on the bumper today... But I did rewire the switch I did a couple days ago. Because I didn't do it the way I wanted to.. I mistakenly switched the negative battery cable. Well it disabled the battery sure enough. It also turned off the clock and lost all my presets in the radio. SO, I made up some new cables that only broke the starter positive feed. Now it still won't start with out the key and the clock and presets stay put!! Then as I was straightening out the garage, I ran across the black front end trim pieces. So I shot them with blue paint and put them on!! Then, I moved my Hi-lift from the bed to the drivers side bed rail. I made up some aluminum plates and mounted the hi-lift mounts to that. CW

I have this radio in my Lil gas miser Mazda. Its a nice unit, I had a dealer put a Alpine head unit in my wife's Libby. When we went to pick it up, this was in it. She said it was OK and took it. Some months later, she didn't like it. SO, she got another new radio and I got this... But its works well, I just prefer Alpine head units. CW -
Good score!! I've never been much of a fan of the look of reg bed boxes. But they sure are useful. I love the sport bar look!! The truck looks good too! Good luck, CW

Thats what I like the best too!! (Good score on the 44 too!!) CW

I got started with these things just a couple years ago. GREAT FUN!! Its a BLAST when the fish pulls you around!!! My buddie has a Wilderness like yours, nice yak!! CW

I AGREE!!! I got a set of the blue ones. Looks like the same guy, but was some time ago so not positive. The bulbs that came with them, BLOW.... FAST!! Pun intended, for sure!!! Just like smithe1811, I threw in a set of Sylvania something or-other and now I like the light very much. More of a flood of light, with a distinct line so as to not blind oncoming drivers. The high beams are OK but could be a tad more focused. But no troubles.. that's what the 130V blasters are for!! :D CW

I've been known to stretch some line.... This is my buddie Mike. We cought this fish one night aft work two Aug's ago. It was 51" and est weight of 55-60 Lbs. Cought on live eels. That year we cought about 30 over 38". CW

How noisy is your fuel pump?
CWLONGSHOT replied to CWLONGSHOT's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think I'm on the fourth pump and second tank...... The blooming things last 6mo to a year then give up the ghost.... Next time I think I'll bite the bullet and spring for a mopar unit. CW -
I mocked up a couple pieces for my rear bumper, side guards build. The plan is using 2''X3''X.125'' stock. Attaching it to the rear bumper on an angle, extending forward to the edge of the wheel opening. Then with welding on a 1.75 round stock extending back to the frame with a bolt on plate. I'll box the ends for looks and prep with POR15 and top coat rustoleum black. First issue: My rear bumper is too short to get the reveal I'm looking for. SO, I cut some .250 stock 3"X 6". I'll weld this in on the angle cut. This will allow about a 1.5" extension for proper reveal protection. Then I had to make a block off plate for good looks... I began chopping angles on a piece of 2x4 lumber for fitment. I decided on a 10-degree angle with a 5-degree rake. Then the sky opened up and the radio began blaring tornado alerts!!! Time to head indoors... CW

Edelbrock Remote Reservoir Shocks - Feedback?
CWLONGSHOT replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Admittedly, I have no experience with the Edelbrock shocks, but can comment on Bilsteins remote res. shocks, in three words. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! or WHAT A SHOCK!!! How about BUY THESE NOW!!! :shake:  :D I know how much you like your OME shocks. I agree, they are a great shock, but so are the Bilsteins!! IIRC the Edelbrock are a Bilstein knock off. Whats the greatest form of flattery... duplication. Buy the Bilsteins and don't worry about playing second fiddle to anyone. JMHO, CW -
I was at a rock store today, buying pavers and border stones. I took the MJ and 2WD LO was quite useful!! The MJ handled the weight great, no objections what so ever. BUT.. as it sat there idling as I loaded the bed with the stone. I noticed quite a bit of noise from the fuel pump. So much so, the kid there helping me commented on it. Asking if I had something special for a pump. From the rear, its about as loud as the exhaust at idle. SO, I wondered, how loud is yours?? CW

and fenders too!! :D

What I mean is, its not something to consider lightly. It takes some real knowledge of metallurgy, physics and vehicle suspension geometry. Not to mention a better than basic understanding of how a axle cycles and articulates off road. All to many "shade tree" mechanics tackle this with poop pipe and a dream and come away with a very poorly built, unsafe setup. I'd like to think I'm a bit more on the ball with this than the average guy and I would not attempt it with out much research. Besides, as you already mentioned, the Comanches rear suspension set up is a good one. Utilizing "flexie" long leafs for excellent ride, good articulation and good carrying capacities. CW EDIT for my sorry arse spelling.... :dunno:

With my on-going yard projects, I headed to the quarry this afternoon. I picked up 100pcs 5x5x1" blue-stone border stones and 60pcs 18x10x2" patio block/pavers. Unsure total weight, but estimate the blue-stones @ 2-3Lbs each and the Patio blocks at 10-12 Ea. It just leveled the back with the front, rode like a dream and didn't make a squeak. Best part, it didn't split in two!!!!! My frame repairs passed there first "stress" test!! LOL  :D  :D :clapping: :clapping: CW

Simple track bar question

Find the source of the play you found and repair it. Change out that bad TB bushing... go for a ride. CW -
They should at the very least, pay for those parts!!! CW

Fuel gauge started playing games! Usual suspects?
CWLONGSHOT replied to Jerry's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would check the plug, wires going to and from then negative grounds... Other than that, the float could have sprung a leak, a wire broke inside or the float arm has been damaged. Have you had fuel stolen recently? CW
