  1. Makes me even more glad I'm taking it down to bare metal.
  2. Now THAT'S a motto I could live by! I just checked, it was over 10yrs ago that I applied that POR15... I can live with that.
  3. I've heard similar regarding primer. But this is the OEM applied stuff, as far as I'm aware. Not what I expected to see
  4. I plan to sandblast in the areas that I cannot get at with a wire cup and such. I have a feeling it won't perform any miracles just because of how hard this stuff is.
  5. I've become wary of any one-part product - it's 2k epoxy for me, going forward.
  6. The POR15 I applied a few years ago hasn't held up very well... The powerwasher and the air nozzle peeled off a bunch of the second coat and quite a few spots had rust penetration below the basecoat.
  7. Used some junk tube for mock coilovers to get it supporting its own weight. Oddly exciting.
  8. Same here.
  9. I decided to tackle a section of body work. Going to try and get the roof and cab down to just below the glass channels covered in epoxy. Impressively, I've discovered there has been rust forming below the factory basecoat... 🙄
  10. I finished my modified OE shifter last night complete with a fresh bushing and a new boot. I was hoping for a more drastic reduction in throw, but the stick is really long for now so I should probably withhold judgement until I trim / bend it once the dash and seats are back in.
  11. That B&M is no doubt superior in every way.
  12. I had already been chewing on the idea of modifying the stock shifter; this post pushed me over the edge!
  13. I'm currently replicating your homebrew short throw shifter. Thanks for sharing that.
  14. Interested to hear on this as well.
  15. Trying to tie up all the "engine installed" mockup items. The TDi radiator hose arrangement is awkward for most swaps. It is possible to flip the housing upside down (as I did), but it does create a clearance issue... good thing I'm beyond the point of caring about hacking away sheet metal 😁
  16. I can't think of any problems it would cause, unless the hub "pilot" were sticking out too far for the wheels you're using 🤷‍♂️
  17. Seems like tailgate surgery is all the rage these days... guess I'll have to play along
  18. Sorry if you've mentioned it, but how are you stripping the paint?
