x2 on jeepco's post. I was gonna say when I saw you make that comment zoolander, that unless Oklahoma has some weird flip-flop on vehicle values, NO WAY XJs are more expensive to get than ZJs. Around here, XJs are a dime a dozen at any given price point, and with a little patience you can get something decent if your expectations are in line with what you want to spend. In this region, you can get a excellent condition 125-150k XJ Sport for $4k, and very often down near $3k for one that may have a few bumps and bruises with mileage 140-160k. And that's for 97+ body styles. Mid 90s and older knock off $1k for sure. XJ all the way. :thumbsup:

There is no way you can convince me, and I'm sure a lot of other people, that you couldn't make restitution with him at some time over the past 9 months, be it all at once or at the very least in small payments over a period of time. Tom, that was a HUGELY educational post. Thanks! Question though. The "stock" MT packs you mention above, that should still give lift over std packs, correct? There are some pics of trucks on here with stock MT packs that appear to be in really good shape, i.e. no sag, and they clearly sit 2"+ higher in the rear that std leaf pack MJ's. So, IIUC, you offer "stock" MT packs, which should offer some "lift" over non-MT packs, and you offer MT packs that offer have add'l lift effect in them through the mfg process? And, I loved that at the end you said you are getting ready to offer a 2nd stage MT leaf to basically allow people to convert to MT load capacities. I've thought for a long time that would be a very good idea for someone to offer, and super cost effective and simple I would imagine. Yes, but only if your MT packs are in good shape, i.e. no sag. The MT packs spring rate gives them a higher arc when unloaded, which is where the lift comes from . Because MJs are SUA, the extra leaf in an MT pack technically would l=lower the rear. The thing to do would be install the MT packs and see how much lift it gives you over regular packs, then add the shackles after and re-measure. Fresh MT packs should give you 2"-3" of lift, whereas "seasoned" packs will only give you 0-1". They'll still have good load capacity if that is important, but the natural arc that provides the "lift" over std spring packs will have settled out. And even if you get the full 2-3" of lift, that amount does not need a SYE at all, especially since you have a long bed IIRC.

you can have a D44 and not have the metric ton package. very easy to find out......4 springs is std, 5 leaf springs is the metric ton.

I don't know of anyplace that sells used shocks over the counter, so are you going new or used? :dunno: If used, you just need to check the classifieds here, on jeepforum.com, ebay and craigslist of course.

Assuming your shocks are stock, ANYTHING should be better. a fair amount of people on here have been happy with monroe sensatracs, and for your application might be just the ticket. 37026 for the front and 37029s for the back, about $125 shipped from several places. edelbrock still has some left for sale for $30 each and those who got the basics (not the off road ones like jeepco) seemed to be very pleased. however, you'll have to get a measurement of your rear shocks and find a suitable replacement for the rears from another truck as the site doesn't list anything for comanche rears and cherokee/waggy rears are not the right measurement. the ones below should work for your front, and the other link is for the spec chart to find rears that will work. http://store.edelbrock.com/3340884-91wagoneerfront.aspx http://edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mis ... l_2008.pdf

I would think with the overall condition of it you might get $3k in Cali, don't you think? I recall you said they were not very prevalent in your area. I know the engine is tired etc, but it's a clean rig. I hope you can't get $3k though, I think somewhere along the way you'll get in to it again, get the things fixed you want to, and be happy you kept it. Plus, while I'm sure you won't abandon CC completely, it will keep you around more, and afford me more sarcastic and witty post exchanges. :brows:
