  1. Will do Jeff. Will also like to do the 4WD swap. Got the engine and suspension about the way I want now and it's time to move on. I'd like to get a crap load of the parts together, haul it to VA in your garage, supply all the brew and crabs and knock it out in a few days. Oh, and visit my Sis too. Could use a vacation mate. I'd be there in a heartbeat if you make that trip.
  2. I am usually one of the few who has said a super clean, low mileage MJ is worth over $3-4k, but $4750 does sound awfully steep. Interestingly, unless I missed it, I don't think anybody pointed out that as a 5spd manual in 87, you have the Peugot tranny, which does not have a very good history. I'd knock off $500-1k right there for the near fact you'll have to replace it at one point. Even though an AX15 or AW4 can be found for cheap, it's still your time or paying someone else that makes that an "expensive" repair overall IMO. If you truly plan to wheel it, I definitely would not recommend paying even half of that price. If it is practically rust free right now, I think you could take some aggressive action to rustproof, errr, rust "really slow down" it prior to winter. The craigslist search link in our classified section has not been updating for over a month now, but you can essentially do the same thing with this: http://www."jeep comanche"=craigslist.org This should pull up all Comanche related listings on Craigslist all over the country. If you are willing to pay nearly $5k for a truck, you can find one in as good or better shape for $2k +/-. Then hopefully there is a member from here that is close to where the truck is located and would be willing to go check it out for you. If it passes the vaunted CC member inspection, you can have it shipped to you for $500-1000 depending on how far it has to go. Final comment, if you are willing and able to spend up to $5k PLUS upgrades and mods, how 'bout this idea. Find a $1k Comanche in decent running shape, use it as your DD for now and to get you through winter while you patiently wait to find your $2000+ very nice MJ. Then, you still have $2000 +/- left over to help pay for the build up of your $1000 MJOR* and rustproofing of your MJDD*. :D  *The following must be read in your best super-fast hard to understand radio or TV commercial disclaimer voice. "MJOR (MJ Off-Roader), MJDD (MJ Daily Driver), and MJOH (MJ Occasional Hauler - Real Life Example of all 3 designations supplied by Pete M) are all non-registered and non-trademarked ideas of WahooSteeler and any re-use, reproduction or general reference to these designations are perfectly legal and, ultimately, ego building imitations of Mr. Steeler." ;)
  3. :rotfl2: Damn JT, late for work? Watched it fly out like Dorothy's house in Wizard of Oz and just kept on down the road huh? That is hilarious.
  4. wow, super impressive to say the least. what kind of mpg's were you getting before this mod?
  5. i'm drawing a blank on what the 6th switch is for on that panel?? pwr locks, front and rear windows and................. :wall: Because I'm wondering if you could do w/out whatever that one is. Plus, if he doesn't have pwr locks, he could just use that switch for the L/R. I realize already though this is a bigger pain in the @$$ than modding the XJ switch that goes with the mirrors. Oh well..........
  6. could you get the driver side switch panel from a 4dr pre-97 XJ and use the rear window switches for left and right mirror control?
  7. Dude, that truck effing ROCKS! I'll repeat some of my prior comments. First, IMO that truck only works as a long bed, i.e. more proportional. Second, that rig is not in MY personality to actually own and drive something like that, but GD I love how it looks and would be knocking people over to get in line to drive it. I know some didn't care for the flames, and 99 times out of 100 I wouldn't either, but I'm ok with it. Love the roll-bar and lights, love that you kept the front end clean. With the flames and such, that would have been too much visual info to process.

  9. a win is a win pete........
  10. Beautiful work Willy.....keep the pics coming.
  11. what size tires are those?
  12. These are the factory "tow mirrors", or at least what came on the truck if you had the tow pkg. I'm pretty sure they could be ordered on their own, i.e. w/out tow pkg. As you can see, not super wide, but i've had another MJ on a tow dolly behind mine and was able to see just fine IMO with a little adjustment to them. I would think it would be possible to fab up some wider arms using the same mounts if you needed something wider for a boat or something.
  13. I'll have milk with mine please. Right out of the jug(s). :D
  14. Have you seen that commercial yet for BW3 (Buffalo Wild Wings) where the ref has to go to the review booth and he's looking in to a BW3 restaurant and everybody says "we're not ready to go yet, can you extend the game a little?" and then the ref purposely starts blowing calls to make it go to OT. Hilarious.
  15. didn't it just close for over $4k? it could have had buyer issues, but just smells fishy for some reason. i still think he's finding a reason to get out of the sale and re-list for a higher price.
  16. that dude is running a scam.
  17. now you're talking!!!
  18. Oh crap this is funny. As I read more and more on the MX6 forum, I started thinking the same thing, that SirSam was, as they say in England, taking a piss! Then when I saw the header contraption, I thought either this is the dumbest person in the world or someone with a great sense of humor. If you haven't read his responses to the guys spazzing out on his turbo mod over on MX6, check out his comment about the noise coming from it being from the gases colliding from different fins on the turbo. Effing hilarious. So Taz, you called it dude! SirSam, let me just say...........
  19. that was the funniest post to me. effing hilarious. Beavis! He said "randomly".
  20. simply put, that is an impressive set-up.
  21. how wide do you need? the factory tow mirrors do a decent job and retain that look.
  22. Hey Zoolander, I think something is wrong with your camera, it looks like your fender flares are purple?? ;)
  23. you mean you didn't know? yeah, it's daisy's step sister, CHICO :D
  24. Damn TNT, that's gotta be frustrating. I don't know what to tell you, but I know you love fabricating and turning those wrenches, so hopefully you can find a way to keep one project going. The painful (pun intended) irony, I'm guessing, is that you're going crazy with all the discomfort, but you'll probably go just as crazy not being able to do what you love, working on those Jeeps! I hope it gets better for you...
  25. yup, definitely been pics of it on here several times. it had a topper on it before.
