anyone know where to find the metric ton badging
WahooSteeler replied to Lewt2007's topic in The Pub
And for the record, if Taz, MJDOA or anybody else comes across some of these stickers, I would love to have one too. What I'd really like to see is a brochure photo of a Big Ton sticker on a truck so we know where it is supposed to go according to factory "specs". -

Lewt, you have the D44 but do you have the MT springs? You could get a D44 w/out the MT pkg. -
I wonder if there's any way you can make a mobile feel less like a mobile? Dude, once you get in there and style it up your way, it will simply feel like home. I know, I just have to get over it. Egggg-zactly! Seriously, you'll be way over it in about five years when you collect your first rent check from it and you're in your next home.

Maybe try to find a double-wide, or modular home as I prefer to call them, like Brent's. I lived in South Fla for a few years and they are everywhere and a lot of home for the money.

First of all, a lot of people on here live south of you where, well, um, the housing market has caused a few problems. Soooo, obviously what you can get for $1000/mo here will be different than in the Great White North, eh? Even though I have no idea of the Canadien housing market, I'm very surprised for $1000-1200 your choices seem to be limited to mobile homes. That being said, Akula makes some good points, mainly that the problem with a mobile home is they appreciate very little, if at all. The profit you make on a future resale will be mostly in the value of the land it sits on. IMO, if you can afford to own vs. renting, it's a no brainer, especially if you plan on staying in that area for awhile. As far as living in a mobile home, it actually could be a great investment for you as a first time home purchase. Once you can afford to move up to another level of housing, keep the mobile home and rent it. A long term income stream and at some point, some substantial appreciation (in the land value) if you hang on to it for a long time.

Looking at my factory order sheet at this exact moment, Off road pkg includes: gas shocks, 225 tires, fullsize spare, skid plate pkg, tow hooks, and 15x7 white styled wheels. There is a member here whose avatar is the "Big Ton - 2205lbs. Payload" sticker. Can't remember who it is........ -

Uhhhh, I don't know about anyone else, but I don't see where anybody busted your chops for your post?? It was obvious it was a joke. -

I was gonna say check around, you might be surprised what someone will do it for. I had to replace the actual key switch on my 87 the I sold and got it done for under $100. Also, check with Wildman, he's pretty experienced with steering column/ignition issues etc. -

LOL, my little girl points to mine and says "Dat you monstah trwuck daddy?" Of course my response is, "yes it is honey, yes it is". :D -
Cool. I just found a set of 32" BFG A/T's with @1/4-1/2 tread left for $50. So do those soft 8's have factory offsets? The front tires on yours seem to stick out more than I would prefer, but my Canyons might get me what I'd like.

what size bfg's are those on there and how much lift currently?

Question for Brent, a.k.a BLHTAZ...
WahooSteeler replied to Catatonic Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Pat McCormick...I believe that he had a massive stroke back in 2005. He was a funny guy! Well, that quote, as I'm sure you know, is from Sheriff Buford T. Justice a.k.a Mr. Jackie Gleason. Yeah, Pat was good ole corny slapstick, but Paul Williams killed me as Little Enos. He just nailed the part. -

Yup, 3 mos after I picked 86 the 87's were hitting showrooms, all with TPI. -

I don't think anyone did or would take it that way, at least I didn't. No, I was just giving you a heads up that mjdoa is a parts rep too. As I said, I have never picked up on any animosity between the two as far as one or the other getting a sale, IMO they've both always taken the "I'm here to help first, be glad to sell you what you need second if YOU want to." Hey, if you need to know something fast, it's always nice to have two sources. -

i'm not tryin to pick a fight, but i know from experience the ones in mustangs its kinda just "what they do" they all kill 2nd gear or others... the one i tore down was shredded to pieces. just cause they DID it... doesn't make it right i don't know its possible chevy used a different model of it that is mo-better-er I had an 86 1/2 Iroc with the 305 4BBL. Damn I loved that car. A true chick magnet. And I think I put more miles than not on it with the breather cover flipped over just to hear that cool sound of it sucking all that air while raking the $#!& out of those gears! But I digress down memory lane. You say, "uh, 86 and A HALF? No such thing." Oh, but true it is. GM dealers were turning in to their own AAMCO shops with seemingly non-stop replacement of those trannies, so mid year 86 production they swithced to the excellent Getrag german 5 speed. I had a buddy that had the 86 Firebird the same time I had my car and he went through 3 T5's before they put a Getrag in his. He never had a problem thereafter. I was 19 or 20 when I got mine, so needless to say I was not easy on it. Never had a problem. I know this because when I ordered my car it was delayed because of this and my dealer told me it was referred to as an 86 1/2 internally because of the new trans setup. -

WahooSteeler replied to Catatonic Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
FYI Catatonic, mjdoa is also a parts specialist for a jeep dealer and another valuable resource here who, as you can see, is glad to offer the same services as Brent. And, if I am correct, they are cool with each other i.e. they don't really try to compete. Just a little plug there for ya mjdoa! :D -

How old is she? I'm guessing 2. I think I asked back right after you got the truck and posted pics of your tires and rims getting delivered, but I forgot. I've got a 3yr old little girl that, well, of course is THE cutest thing ever put on the earth, but that little nugget you got there is awful high on the list! C-U-T-E cute! -

yes and no. my car needs premium, definitely a difference in performance and mpg when i don't use it. riding around on fumes this a.m. so i bought premium at another place near work at $3.11 and the other place was $3.05. who knew it would drop 11 cents in 8 hours? as long as it keeps dropping, i don't care that it cost me all of $1.20 more to fill up in the a.m.

$2.79 this morning, $2.74 this evening. same place had premium for $2.94

I forgot they offered diesel in that generation of Passat. VW has always had great diesels and the rest of the car is hit or miss like yours. Our '02 was awesome, never a problem. Sold it in late '05 when #2 came along.
