upper control are bushings
Motion Offroad replied to jons87mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Drill holes in the rubber until most of it's gone. Than crush the metal sleeve with a hammer and push it out. Option 2 involves a torch, but stinks really bad... -
rockkrawler trackbar and bracket
Motion Offroad replied to 05mxdiesel's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Go with the RK one. Best bang for the buck on the market. We sell about 2 a week for the XJ/MJ and everyone is very happy with them. -
Based on the strip/decals it's an Olympic Edition, thus meaning it's an '88.

cooling system question
Motion Offroad replied to Q's Jeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
We've had great luck with the CSF 3-Cores. You'll want the one for '91-'97 XJ models. -
It really depends on what it's out of during the '78-'79 time. '77-'79 F-150 Super Cabs and '78-'79 F-250's were setup leaf spring and did not have the cast wedges. The F-250 are going to be a 8 lug axle. If it's a '78-'79 axle setup for coil springs (F-100 or F-150 standard) it'll have the cast wedges.

We've got a torx bit that we've cut down to make it shorter. Works well with the correct ratchet. We also replace with a standard hex-head bolt to make it easier down the road if we need to take them back out.

We did this several years ago on our wheeling MJ with good results.

Heim Joint Misalignment Spacers?
Motion Offroad replied to drcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The mis-alignment spacers really need to be matched to the heim joint itself. Do you know what trackbar and/or what heim joint you are running with the new setup? -
It's easier to cut down the yoke than it is the driveshaft. As long as the yoke doesn't bottom out internally you should be able to cut it down a bit if needed.

Speedometer gear for 5.13?
Motion Offroad replied to drcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You'll need a 40 tooth gear. We have a chart listed HERE. -
News to us. Just got an order in of them 2 weeks ago. We've got 35" KM2 in stock (about 40 of them).

ZJ D35 disc on MJ D35
Motion Offroad replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No it's not just "bolt-up". The D35 will be much easier to get them to work on than the D44; though both are doable with somewhat minimal work. -
making led tail lights need help
Motion Offroad replied to comanchekid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When I did the LED's on my XJ I learned a few things. Not sure if your using a similar setup as I did. I used 1 light for stop/turn, and 1 light for backup. I used a draw-tite trailer harness that plug in-line with my factory wiring. I didn't have to cut any wiring this way and it simply was a "plug & play" setup. It converts it to a 3-wire setup to a 2-wire setup so I could use 1 light for stop/turn. The LED's simply run off the new harness. I also had to use an electronic flasher. The part number from my local auto-supply store was EL12 (2 prong). Hope that maybe helps... -Adam -
ACC also makes a MJ specific Vinyl floor...
-
A couple manufacturers made them. Draw-Tite for example is one of them: Unfortunately they are NLA. We've begged and pleaded with them to start making them again with no luck....
-
They do not come cut with any holes etc. A few spots are kinda "tricky" to figure out where to cut the holes simply due to the nature of having a large piece of carpet your working with.
-
ACC manufactures a MJ specific carpet kit. We've had good luck with it (we run it in our '87 MJ). Fitment is good; you just need to take your time with the install.

It's "Rescue Green" from the JK Wrangler. The code is PJR "Rescue Green Met. Clear Coat".

Have you changed out the filter? The AW4 uses solenoids to change the gears. Does it do it in every gear change or just a specific one (for instance 1st to 2nd)?

Axles: To swap or not to swap?
Motion Offroad replied to Incommando's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't see anywhere listed what size tires you intend to run. In my opinion that is the deciding factor on what axle's to run between the 2 options. -Adam -
Dana 35, Chrysler 8.25 swap
Motion Offroad replied to jimoshel's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The easiest swap is the 8.25" since it's out of an XJ. The ZJ axle is coil sprung so you'd have to remove the coil buckets and fit leaf spring perches onto it... -
D60 front using MJ suspension
Motion Offroad replied to Incommando's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It is available both ways. The RE9968 kit includes the truss. The RE9968-NT kit does not include the truss. -
D60 front using MJ suspension
Motion Offroad replied to Incommando's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
We have 18 of the RE kits on the shelf; so they are still accessible. We have most of the individual parts on the shelf as well if your not wanting the full kit. Ballastic Fab had a press-release last week that they are "refocusing" the company and a large portion of their product line will be discontinued. They had a large list of the products they were trying to closeout and the mounting kit was not on there. So maybe that is one of them that they plan on keeping... Have you checked with TNT Customs?
