The MJ and Xj are different from the tranny x-member back. The MJ widens starting after the X-member.. is it possible to make it work.. I am sure it is, but not what I want to do when I spend that kinda money
-
My belief is anything under my rig is either a ramp or a skidplate... that goes for lower links and springs :brows: I agree long term abuse might be an issue.. especially in a place with lots of ledges
-
I alwys wondered why they sold 2wd 3/4 tons and 1 tons
-
My experience on Pong has been Use the JKs bayonet eliminators and go with 26" shock eye to eye. Thats with Rusty's 6.5 coils As for the trac bar.. I prefer to center my axle uing the center of the bumpstop, and the running the plumb bomb down, then measure off the center of the upper ball joint :brows:
-
Keep in mind that is for 3" of lift on a rig that weighs 4500lbs(if not more) I can vouche for the quality of the springs... If I was in the market for a set of springs like that.. I would call and see what the spring rate was... Thats a real good deal on a new set of alcans... I wouldnt even sell my used ones for that lil
-
The easiest thng to do is spend a few dollars and buy a line lock from summit :brows:
-
I personally used this same thing on my rigs. I used 6" hard line and a union along with one of them fancy dancy plasctic wire tire things you find at the Home improvement store.. that and a self tapping bolt :brows: Its the same thing Rusty's sells as a brake line extension

I know there are a few Ex military tractors out there running the 5 ton rockwells being used as toy haulers

PETE!!!! tech on your spring-over shock mounts...
pingpong replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
YOu always can run shockless. I did that for a long time on the rear. Its fine as long as you don't do high speed dune running or ride real bumpy highways -
I had 4wd leafs and the 8.8 in Pong, and I sat level with 6.5 coils up front, but I also carried a lot of crap in the bed.. when Pong had one. It also depends on how tall your leaf spring mount is, mine was mounted so it sat flush with the top of the axle... no added lift. I have seen ppl who have made their own mounts dd up to 1" to the mounting pad

The almost 4yr MJ project... Make some progress..
pingpong replied to Regger's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Novak makes a shifter that connects right to the t-case, but it is for the stock location. You always could do a cable shifter and mount the second shifter somewhere cool -
I am here to tel you I won a Chevy tow rig and it will be the last one. The fit and finish suck. I wish I could have spent 30 days with my rig before I bought it... I would have realized how loud the interior was/is. Rough ride.. ride in my rig empty or loaded.. feels like a old lifted CJ. If I had to buy a new rig it would either be a new F650, or the CXT. its only money

Here is how I look at springs and shckles. Your springs need to be stiff enough to provide decent weight carrying capacity, while being able to flex their @$$ off. So basically it is a compromise... stock leaf packs, with another main leaf added as the second seems to work real good, factor that in with a Chevy 2" drop shackle and you have a real good load carrying and flexing setup

Call me tommorow... and I will hook you up with a number to a guy that can possibly help you

If you plan on wheeling putting the tank where the spare tire goes will greatly reduce your fuel capacity :brows: CVause you will cause nice big dents :nanner:
-
I bought a new tank a few yrs ago and it was right at 100 bucks shipped and it came with a new o-ring. Like everyone all ready said eliminate the cheap and easy problems. There are also 2 styles of tanks... lwb and swb

I normally don't bash ppl's work.. but that guy is smoking crack if he thinks his crap is worth that much... Post it in the hardcore tech
-
I think the answer is yes on the turning of the knuckles, but I am not 100% on that, and it is a strong possibility that it will bind at full drop if you have any amopunt of flex with that much lift and a LP axle
-
You'll shoot your eye out :nanner:

Didnt take any pics while there.. to me its no real big deal except the coasters :D I was kinda freaked out about the beer as well... they have them in aluminum bottles as well as plastic, available at most drink stands... but at 5 bucks a pop.. I am sitting down to enjoy it. Also they have restricted smoking since the last time I was there, which I think is great, except my wife and inlaws both smoke, which meant I had to stand in the sun with them  Alpinegiest is an awesome coaster, but Griffon has it beat. Only one loop/invert on alpinegiest even came close to the rush of one of the small drops on Griffon :brows:

I picked mine cause I wanted something different. Everyone has had a wrangler, and a chrokee  and once you have seen one built.... you have seen them all :brows: When I first got Pong and decided to wheel him, I was the only MJ out of 250 rigs at the VA4WDA annual run 2 yrs in a row PLus what other jeep rig can carry all your camping gear, as well as spare parts for the whole group and not need a trailer
-
Yeah we did all the inside rides too :D it was blazing hot yesterday. Can you believe they sell beer there now.. and you can walk around with them but a 5 bucks a crack... I was sitting down and enjoying everyone of mine :brows:
