My tires are going to have to wear out befor I put new ones on my tow tig... "e" rated tires aren't cheap

YOu can upgrade the 14b shafts to moly's too :brows: and you can also put a fancy pinion guard on it as well. Keep in mind the 14b is a pig and will require extra work to make it work. Shaving the housing and having gears turned down are all popular things

MY advice to you is buy the best joints you can afford. Watch out for some companies that offer fancy brackets with designs... I have some.. and lets just say theri plasma cutter must have needed a new tip that day, or the operatot didnt set the CNC right. Also over kill on the lower links is key. I know a couple of wheelers in the local club who have bent 2.25x 3/8 lowers... now they are running 3"x1/2  (granted this is behind a healthy v-8 with a driver who has the attitude make it or break it)

I know a guy who did the 35 spline swap on a d60, and it cost him 250 at the machine shop and another 150 for yukon 35 spline shafts, plus a few dollars in welding rod for what amounts to an unbreakable axle(behind a 4 banger on 38's) Rear axles are cheap.. most d-60's and 14 bolts for the rear are less then 250, and sometimes can be had cheaper (I have one you can buy for 150)

I know they have 40" Iroks in the 20's :brows:

Thats a pretty cool way to bash someone publicly... I guess  made for a good read

Pong has nothing but a stock down tube, aftermarket cat, and a glasspack with a small turn down. I think when I got everything new it was less then 125 bucks, and I have had no issues with it
-
That was the day I was thinking about going too :brows:
-
LIke pointed out earlier tow with it or don't tow with it... I just PRAY that the ones of you who decide to to with it.. have real good insurance and arrive safe.

I asked about one of them and the missing parts... sounds like it would be more trouble then it is worth

4.0 Eng swap now runs rough
pingpong replied to bucketheadben's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
to me it sounds like a fuel issue -
You don't have to drop the tank on a MJ or an XJ to change the seal or fuel pump. Basically you take a screw driver and tap the tabs on the locking ring around and remove. Its a basic job, but can be a royal PITA depending on how much rust you have its also easier to do if you pull the driveshaft
-
It is possible that your fuel pump is going south, but more then likely it's not. I would replace your fuel filter first. Normally when a fuel pump goes bad... it will start to cut off after starting, or it will run like pooo pooo. By this I mean will have no power and take you putting your foot all the way to the floor to keep it running.

That is if it is a useable axle in its current condition. I paid 1200 for my 60 and 14 bolt but that included shipping and both axles are/were in great shape when I got them. Then almost a yr later the ford deal comes along, and it is a whole running truck
-
yeah leys metnion the flange... protects the u-joint from rcoks, and the u-bolt style straps asre what 1/4 at best... the bolts are way bigget then that that hold the flange in place

Thats a smoking price... even though I just bought a whole 77 f350 with d60F/R and 351/c6/np205 combo for a 1000 :D

Aight Checking My Lift Plans (Homebrew)
pingpong replied to CMMagnussen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Personally I think you are smoking to mych crack if you think leaves are better then any link style suspension, even 1/4 eliptical is better then leaf springs. Mud running requires lots of wheel speed, thus creating axle wrp  -
All that stuff that was just pointed out is true... I have a question though... is it easier to open the dif cover and pull a clip to remove a broken piece of shaft, or is it better to have to remove four bolts (that in all likely hood have never been removed) and try to pull a boken piece of shaft out the housing  I say screw the BS and go full float d60 or 14bolt :brows:

Way too much for a 2wd.. if it was a 4wd maybe 2 grand

We need to know if you want to keep the top in stock location. Rockhounds idea looks good, and can be easily adapted to fit the shocks you have. I just ran no shocks when Pong had a bed... yeah I know made for a real soft ride :D

You all must not have a relationship with your UPS man. Mine will put my deliveries in my fenced in back yard for me, or if I leave instructions put it in my garage. I have had more problems with the Postal service then I have with UPS. As for private frieght companies... well MY 42's came from one, and they were top notch, but when the same company tried to deliver my drill press, I was less then impressed with the customer service, the driver was great though
