  1. Geonovast What you play?
  2. I believe the Comanche itself (i.e., the bed) is marginally wider than an XJ is the back, but XJ and MJ axles are the same width.
  3. My official scientific wild @$$ guess is 7.
  4. You can't just shorten the truck to fit a short bed. The frames are completely different, and the axle's not even in the same place on a lwb and swb.
  5. Gearing in the Jeep NSG-370s sucks. You suck. Rob You get a lower first gear with an AX-15 and 3.55 axle gearing than you do with an NSG-370 and 3.07 gears. Just sayin'.

  7. If any of said convoys end up going past Springfield, MO on the way, schmaybe you could pick me up?

  9. I wasn't angry... I stupidly wore long pants.. and that day turned out pretty warm...And I lost my sunglasses.. so I was blind and tired of being blind all day. So hot and tired.. but not angry. We picked through this great AMC collection that day, got to see Peter's WFC, and their eclectic group of Jeeps. it was an absolutely outstanding Jeep day. And you are correct... Brent is in his 20's... just getting closer towards the far end of them He's 25...
  10. I drove 600 miles to be in that picture... unfortunately not gonna be able to make it all the way to Pete's.
  11. All that work and they don't even realize that it's not a Comanche.
  12. Burrito.
  13. Probably not. Just sayin' that if/when that box o' rocks craps out, don't fix it.
  14. My condolences on the transmission. Don't put any money into that thing beyond oil. If it craps out on ya, find yourself an AX-15.
  15. There's no bellhousing out there that will allow you to put an AX-5 behind a 4.0 anyway. If you do a 4.0 swap, you'll find 3 different 5 speeds behind it: Pukey BA 10/5: 87-mid 89 AX-15 : mid 89-99 NV3550 : 00-01 Those are for the XJ anyway, I'm not entirely sure if the YJ/TJs used the same years, but they used the same transmissions.
  16. 4.0 used AX-15 mid 89-99 2.5 and 2.8 used the AX-5 AX-5 left, AX-15 right

    3.07 rear end

    4.0 + auto will be 3.55.
  18. I know the MPFI 2.5s got them. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the Renix ones did not. Only one injector, ya know.
  19. It slows down the fuel pump after startup to reduce noise and allegedly lengthen the life of the pump. If they go out completely, the pump won't run, and the truck will die right after startup.
  20. It's anyone's guess. Buddy of mine just picked up an AX-15 that had the same problem, and that was it. The 5-R slider was pushed forward, and the shift arm was only able to get between 1-2 and 3-4. Might not be a bad idea to pull the front case off and make sure nothing's broken though.
  21. If you remove the entire shifter assembly (using the 4 bolts, not just removing the rod), you can see inside and see where the shift arm's at. If it's in the 3-4 slider, you can remove the retainer springs on each side, the retaining bolt in the shaft, and the big female allen plug on the back(on a 4wd unit, with the T-case removed). You can then pull the shift arm out, put it back in in the 5-R slider, and put the shifter back on. Should be able to pop it out then.
  22. Nope, and I'm considering how to do that. right now my best thought is to remove the knuckle, which I need to do eventually, and then weld on a slide hammer to the end of the axle shaft and try to get it to come out. Don't have the plate for the lug studs? Ah no, way past that now, I hammered off the unit bearing and all and I'm down to the inner shaft now. If you've got the bearing, and the plate for the slide hammer, personally, I'd put it back on enough to use the hammer. But that's me. :dunno:

  24. Have you tried a slide hammer on the axleshaft?
