  1. Nope, RMS on the 4.0 is a two piece seal, you have to drop the oil pan and rear main bearing cap, and just be very very careful not to scratch anything.
  2. I've been thinking of doing something at my place at the beginning of June, once Brent gets all settled in in Madison. But if you can get more people, you have a little bit more room than I do.
  3. 4.0 or 2.5? If you have a 4.0 you can changes the RMS without dropping the tranny.
  4. What the hell is a torque spec? Gud'ntite always works for me. :dunno:
  5. You have to resize it before you upload it. I believe the maximum dimensions are 150 pixels x 150 pixels and 27 kb. I resize in photoshop and lower the jpeg quality until it's small enough.
  6. Looks like the front tires are smaller..
  7. Why do you specifically need a granny gear? The AX-4/5 is already generous with a 3.93:1 first gear.
  8. I have 3.55 gearing in my 2.5 and I'd swapped in an AX-5. I really only use 5th on the interstate, I can occasionally get away with it at 65, but on on flat roads. If there's any hills, I don't use 5th whatsoever. Remember, lower RPMs does NOT mean better mileage, if the engine has trouble turning the gear, it can actually make it worse. Also, I've sat around 3400 RPM for 4-5 hours pretty much straight with my 2.5 and it doesn't hurt anything. It may sound like it's about to explode, but it's fine. Another thing to consider is my 2.5 is a 91, therefore I have the MPFI. IIRC, the MPFI 2.5s are pushing 15-20 HP over a TBI 2.5. She's also sitting on 205/75 R15 tires, which I believe are the smallest from factory.
  9. For 50 bucks you could get a regular grommet and run your own hose.
  10. Sounds good except he's 1300 miles away from you.. Probably be cheaper to ship it. Considering his reasons for the swap I personally think he's better with his AX-4.

    Man Rules

So true... I'm glad my girl understands most of those.
  12. I think he wants to ship just a longblock motor.
  13. Yup, If you jack the truck up by the body, the axle will droop, and the wheels will actually point farther in. If you jack it up by the axle, the suspension could compress a little and the wheels will point out a little. Better to do it on the ground.
  14. If that's not it, I have an 86 2.5 4 speed ECU sitting around that you can literally have if you meet me on my way down to MO. Closest I get to you is Cedar Rapids. I don't know if it's good though. We picked up the truck for parts, was told it would run for a few minutes then overheat.
  15. Looks better on the white I think.
  16. wasn't it a 2.2L they had has an option for the MJ's It was a 2.1L turbo diesel. I believe the only way to get it was to specifically request it from the dealership, and there were not even 20 made in the entire country. JeepcoMJ's Dad has one and I've ridden in it. :brows:
  17. That guy's posted up the same wanted ad for an 86-89 comanche motor three times now... apparently the link I sent him for 90 YJ motor wasn't good enough. Here's another great one.. http://madison.craigslist.org/cto/1158427696.html
  18. They make kits to relocate the CPS to the harmonic balancer don't they?
  19. That's one hell of a lawnmower... :clapping:
  20. But that's not as fun. ;) And how else would I make those purdy black clouds?

    It's official

WTF is this 'job' I keep reading about?
  22. actually, what's pretty funny is your constant lack of ability to interpret the fact that I don't actively go make fun of other member's threads, because I'm actually NOT a jackass and some others here are. I'm here cause I like the trucks. we share that common fact. so, while he may not like my thread, and I may not like his, at least I'm not gonna go ahead and be a fool about it. maybe you should grow up a bit. ya think? i mean, it's a little amazing that you're what? in your 40's? ya should probably stop acting like a bully and start acting like an adult. I am actually 24, now let's quit crying and get back to discussing our discussions about our comanches!!! *Sigh* I was talking to the dinosaur who started this off-topic finger pointing part of the conversation. (wahoosteeler) I've really got no problems with you multipurposemj ok, good now I can sleep tonight :wavey: I can't. I can't take all this fighting!! :( :wall:
  23. I talk to my GF almost every day about them and her XJ... I think she just nods along and pretends to know what I'm talking about.
  24. I looked it up, the era Camaro he's talking about with a 2.8 is a T-5. That specific T-5 came with a 3.5 first gear, compared to 3.93 in the AX-4/5. I did it first and showed Mr. MJ how to do it.
