Yup still got the cooling stuff. How's $40 for anything you might need sound? I was planning on getting outside around 10 to get everything set up and whatnot. Gotta do a little pickup around the carport to make sure we got room to move around.

It's not a need a lift kind of deal, but that would make it easier. You could probably get it completely done in two weekends, or one if you've got some help. Basic list is this, and you can get it all from XJs. -Front Dana 30 with matching gear ratio to your rear axle. -4wd transmission. Easiest is to just get a 4wd version of your 2wd one, but if you plan on going from auto to manual or vice versa, now is the best time. -Transfercase with matching spline count input to your transmission's output. -Front driveshaft with appropriate length to your engine/transmission combination. -T-case handle, gate, bezel, and linkages. -Longer speedometer cable if you're dealing with a Renix. You'll also need to either -Get your 2wd driveshaft cut down to the correct length, or -If you're lucky you might be able to find the proper MJ shaft, but I think the first option is usually easier. Everything's bolt on. The hole for the 4wd shifter is even already there, just has a plate over it. If you can find a complete XJ donor that's the same engine and trans you have, that would probably be the cheapest and easiest option.

I did a search and noticed the first shot didn't work out too well... but maybe if there's enough interest we could give it another shot?

Trailer? hauling a certain 400 lb paperweight away for me perhaps? :brows:

Yes it's worth it. Converting is very easy, every part needed for it, with exception to a rear Driveshaft, can be yanked off of an XJ. There are plenty of threads on it floating around here, you should be able to find anything you need to know, but if you're confused or can't find anything, just ask.

92 2.5 Power Upgrades
Geonovast replied to 9192comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've got a 92 4.0 TB on my 91 2.5 and noticed a marginal increase in power. -
Alright, big day is tomorrow, XJ will be getting here later this afternoon. Just wondering about what time you guys were planning on gettin' here so I know when I can roll myself out of the snoozer.

1 - Front manifold 5 - Back manifold 3 - Front manifold 6 - Back manifold 2 - Front manifold 4 - Back manifold Looks balanced to me. :dunno:

Might not be a bad idea to throw on there. Granted there's not a lot of them, and they're pretty widespread, but with the difference of laws and parts availability in Canada vs. US, I think it'd be a good idea for them to have their own discussion area. And if you're worried about lack of activity in there, it's bound to end up with more posts than the Central plains one. :rotfl2:

If you'd really prefer to keep it a manual, it shouldn't be too hard to find a decent 4wd AX-15 for a good price, or I'm sure you can get a 4wd BA 10/5 for nearly free.

I would be more than happy to ride out there with you and drive the white one back if that'd be an option.

Intrument Panel w/Gauges ('87)

Your current speedometer without the tripometer will directly replace the one with the tripometer in the cluster. Are you just changing to keep your odometer setting? From what I understand, resetting the Renix odometers is fairly easy, then you can keep the trip. http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=921205 -
how the hell do you put a tack in a 96 cherokee?????????

Get a factory full cluster. -
Definitely the temp gauge sender.

You made sure the gear ratios of the front and rear axles match correct? Checklist of parts is basically: Dana 30 with gear ration matching your rear axle Front driveshaft appropriate to which engine/transmission you have 4wd transmission Transfer case T-case shift linkages, gate and bezel 4wd rear shaft or cut down your 2wd shaft. No, an XJ rear will not work. You may need a longer speedometer cable It's really a very easy swap, it's all bolt-on and the only modifications you'll really need to do is drill 4 small holes for a T-case linkage bracket. The hole for the 4wd shifter is already there, just with a plate bolted over it. That should cover the basics. Any specific questions, just ask.

$80 is too much to sink into a D35. After further examination, I've determined there's also a lot of play between the ring and pinion. There's a definite clunking sound if you're turning the carrier when you switch directions. Just to make sure that's not normal, I did the same to one of the D35's on the rack that already has the cover off. Smooth as silk. The truck just won't go anywhere until I get the 8.25. Thanks for the help guys.

You asked already. It was moved to The Pub because it's not an MJ question. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17740

I thought you had that forum that was a spam trap? You could always require a 100 word essay on "Why I want to become a CC member" :rotfl2:

Wow.. been awhile since I've seen spam. Filter may need a bit of tweakin'.

And if you get an XJ, when you finally find a MJ, if the XJ's not in the best shape you can part it out for possibly a 4wd swap on a 2wd MJ, or just parts. Not a lot of ZJ stuff can be used on an MJ.

Finally got the wheels and drums off, there was a ton of powder in the passenger side drum, not sure where it's from, but it could be dirt. Driver's side was missing the adjuster arm and spring/cable. Both drums were really hard to get off. Haven't gotten the carrier out, but the passenger side bearing has play in it. You can grab the carrier and move the right side forward and back a little bit. Stupid thing doesn't wanna pop out though. Since it's not the spiders I think I'm just gonna slap everything back together so it can at least move, and just not drive it until I get the 8.25 for it. Screw putting fluid back in it.

It should swap right in. Somewhere in 87 they made a minor modification to the speedo clip, but you should be able to get that to work. You'll probably have to adjust the potentiometer on the tach since the trucks had different number of cylinders. -

Pull that stupid bulb out if you think the shift light coming on in 5th is annoying. I doubt anybody listens to it anyway.
