  1. I don't see the word 'low' anywhere. But whatever. I don't want to argue. As you said, he's got your advice and he's got mine. Hopefully whatever he decides works out for him.
  2. I didn't say he had low oil pressure.
  3. Or a WTB thread here. I'm sure someone has 1 or 17 laying around.
  4. If you're running 3.07 in the rear those numbers do not surprise me at all..
  5. It shouldn't be that hard to find a stock one at a JY. front doors from an 84-96 4 door XJ are identical to MJ doors.
  6. Low mileage doesn't always mean good either. A piss-poorly maintained 4.0 with 70k on it isn't gonna be better than a well taken care of 220k motor. He could very well pick up a low mileage engine, if he could find one, and end up putting bearings in it anyway. Besides... if he's paying someone to do bearings for him... why would paying someone to do a motor swap make any more sense?
  7. Why? if the bearings fix his oil pressure problem, he's good to go for a long time yet.
  8. I didn't dress up, but the kiddo did.
  9. I've only gotten one deer... with an XJ. Oh, and I sliced a pheasant in half with the right side mirror of a 95 Gutless Supreme.
  10. My brother's GF has a camera that saves the pictures as a .jpg, and in RAW format, which takes up a little more space but apparentely you can do whatever you want with the picture in editing. Basically it's saved before it's converted to any sort of format. I don't remember what kind it is, but I can easily find out.
  11. Test your CPS before you buy a new one. It very well could be the coil, or even simply a frayed wire somewhere.
  12. Alternator casing is aluminum, it may not ground right to see if you have spark or not. Clean off a spot on the body to test with. I'm really thinking it's your CPS as well. But it could be something else. Never know with these things.
  13. The coolant lines will line up fine, however the ports on the head are in a different spot than the manifolds.
  14. Do you get spark if you ground a spark plug straight from the coil? It's possible someone just dumped an old carbed dist in there, but I can't be sure. I've never run a Renix 2.5 You can test the CPS with a multimeter that can check ohms. IIRC the correct range is between 127 and 275 ohms.
  15. AFAIK the TBI 2.5s did not have a vacuum advance, nor a CmPS. Is the CPS plugged in? First place to look for a no spark is either a bad CPS or an unplugged CPS.
  16. If I was replacing the oil pump anyway, I'd go with a high flow. Last time I priced them, the high flows were only a couple bucks more than the oem ones.
  17. Might be awhile... MJs are still up in WI :(
  18. If you replace the main bearings, you really, really, really, really should replace the rod bearings as well.
  19. And XJ with a 20?

    Ugh

I'll be drinkin these tonight. I plan on gettin' wicked sober.
  21. IMO going to 5.0 is not a good idea. Some blocks may not even be able to do it, as with that much boring you have to have the block checked to make sure you have enough wall thickness between the cylinders. 4.7 is as big as I would go.
  22. If you never load down the bed, you could remove the overload leaf. Being SOA, that'll drop the rear a bit.
  23. several reasons: First being I need to change the slave cylinder on the trans (doing the clutch while I'm there) and 22 years of grease from leaky grommets and valve covers. I'm gonna refresh the gaskets, clean and paint things. Ok. I'm glad you said the gaskets and paint, because there is no reason to pull the motor for a clutch and slave cylinder. Much easier to drop the trans. What year is your truck? It would be very helpful if you put some specs of your truck in your signature. ie, Year, motor, trans, 4wd/2wd, axles, swb or lwb, etc.
