  1. I would search for a 97+ ( i believe) 8.25 as that will have 29 spline shafts and be stronger than the 27 spliners you are looking at. As to mileage my 93 27spline in my XJ has 233k+ on it and still looks mint when I take off the cover to change the oil and does not make any sound at all. Whatever JY axle you get CHANGE THE OIL IN IT!! I got a D30 put in my XJ by a shop (was too busy to do it myself on my DD) and when I got it back I checked the oil and it was a milkshake of water and oil in there.
  2. Hit up the Junkyard. Of all the manual window vehicles I have worked on every one seemed to have the same diameter window crank shaft with the same spline count. The only difference is some use clips to stay on and some use screws. I would be willing to bet any AMC made vehicle made around the time as your MJ would have a crank that would fit.
  3. S&W .38 and .357 Next to the bed. Along with the wifes Beretta. Break in and your leaving in a bag. My doors are always locked.
  4. The IAC on my 88 2.5 looks exactly like the IAC off my wifes old 3.9 Dakota. the plug is different tho. I'm still trying to find a way to mount the Dak motor to the Comanche IAC body.
  5. True as long as you can handle a saw. I have run anti-kick chain and pro chain on my POS Poulan and the Pro chain kicks @$$! You just have to watch what you are doing as one bad kick could change your life for the worse.
  6. It does not have tires (just put them on today) pulled drums and everything was bone dry. I think ailens have abducted my brake fluid! :dunno:
  7. The hose looks a little wet and the booster is not in the greatest shape. I fear removing the bolts will destroy it. I'm trying to fix this on a budget since i am currently laid off.
  8. I also own an 88!
  9. That switch should be a black rectangle with a large wiring harness attached. Hold it with the wiring harness up and use a flathead screwdriver to slide the part the rod hooked to over to the right. It will automatically spring back from start to run when you let it go. Did this to a friends monte carlo for over a year. Just expect some problems from the cops if they pull you over and see the switch hanging and a screwdriver in the center console. We had guns pulled on us until they figured out that we owned the car and that the lock cyl was broken.
  10. I had been starting it regularly and letting it warm up. At least 2x per week. I don't like to leave vehicles sitting a long time without running them.
  11. There are NO BRAKES AT ALL. nothing zip nada, and no exhaust.Just the downpipe so it is loud as hell! Also the truck is at my friends house on top of the tallest hill in the county and my house is at the bottom of said hill. Windy back roads and steep hills with no brakes is not my idea of fun. I was originally going to just say screw it and drive it but then discovered the brake problems. Luckily my time-line to get it out has been extended as the sale of the house fell through so hopefully I can just fix the brakes and drive it. Normally I would agree with you! :D But I care about this truck so I don't want to wrap it around a tree
  12. Ok cool. I was just worried because it has this huge heavy shift knob stuck on it
  13. Currently my truck has no brakes whatsoever. When I first got it they were working fine and it even seemed that the height sensing valve was still working. After it sat about a month I went to move it and the pedal goes right to the floor. Upon inspection I found no leaks or wet spots but the front resivoir of the master cylinder was bone dry. Since I can't find any leaks I'm wondering if the fluid is leaking out into the Vac booster and getting burned up in the engine.
  14. Thanks! Should I do anything with the shifter to prevent it from popping into gear or anything or just put it in neutral and go. Sorry for the dumb questions but I have never towed a RWD manual tranny vehicle before. Only towed FWD's.
  15. My 88 2.5L would not start when I got it. Turns out the CPS connector was all full of crap inside. Used some CRC electrical cleaner and a wire brush on it and it fired right up. Check that connector.
