  1. I believe the last year for the 4.0 was 04 or 05.
  2. My place :brows:
  3. It would still run fine if it was a very slow leak into the cylinder. If it is the head gasket, it's best to get it now before the coolant makes a trail in the block and/or head. How fast are you losing coolant? Maybe it's just air working its way out and it just appears to be going down in level? :dunno:
  4. Check the floors, and inside of the rear wheels wells for rust. Those are usually the first and worst places they get it. As far as the 4wd swap, yes it is as easy as it looks. Best part is you can usually grab an entire XJ, do the 4wd swap, and sell off what you don't need to make some money back. The only thing you can't grab from an XJ is the rear driveshaft, you'll either need to find a factory 4wd MJ one, or have yours cut down. Looking forward to some pics, even if you don't buy it. Welcome to the club!
  5. Pop the head off before you go motor-swappage. You may just need a head gasket. Can't hurt, since you're yanking it out anyway. Or even if the head is damaged, you could probably just throw the 88's head on. If it's not dumping coolant on the ground, in the cab, or in the crankcase... there's only one place left for it to go: In the compression chamber. Are you still losing coolant after the radiator swap? Pretty easy to get air in the system with changing that out.
  6. Everything should be a direct swap. AFAIK there's no differences between 86 and 88 that you should have to deal with. AX-4 and AX-5, for all intents and purposes, are identical.
  7. Identical except for perch location and MJ ones do not have the shock mounts. It may be easier.. it may not. I've never seen numbers, but I suspect that MJs actually got more 44s than the XJ.
  8. We all know you're the exception. :fool:
  9. Could be a dying or dirty IAC.
  10. I would clean your throttle body and IAC really well with some throttlebody/carb cleaner and a toothbrush. Also check your TPS's adjustment.
  11. I used to hang out with the ricer crowd. Never owned any of that crap myself, but I rode around in a Supra. One that was actually modified with stuff under the hood, not on the body. Those people were ridiculous. Every time there was a get-together it was all.. "Yeah, that's cool, but mine's better", or worse "Yeah, that's cool, but my friend's is better" At least the Jeep get-togethers aren't like that.
  12. Hey now, Rob's the one that told me 83 was the last year, and that's why he was so mad at me for getting rid of my nice(for what it was) 83.
  13. I don't drink, but I thought it would be hilarious to have 4 people split screening in Halo, and had to take a drink every time they die.
  14. There really isn't too much worth grabbing off a ZJ. The motor seems like a decent grab, I believe there are some differences in the ZJ motors, but pretty sure they can go in place of an XJ/MJ HO one.
  15. no, no it doesn't. Mine does. Trade ya!
  16. Your is an external slave. Internals and externals bleed differently. To the OP: Is yours internal or external?
  17. Geonovast

    WTB: AX-15

    21 or 23 spline? He needs a 23.
  18.   Very nice rig. Do you even know what rust is?
  19. I buy all my parts from KaleCoAuto. You cannot buy better quality.
  20. Yeah, it works. Only problem is it doesn't last for more than 4 hours..
  21. Automatic used in 1989 was the AW-4.. What's this A604?
  22. I dunno. I googled it and the first thing google found was this thread.
  23. This is right up there with hacking off teeth to change gear ratio
