  1. Very nice bumper, I like the side protection. Wish there were a better solution for the tag, seems to be a recurring problem. Your fab man does nice work! agreed, very nice bumper indeed, When I plan on making mine i will incorporate the tag somehow.
  2. You say this is a project vehicle and you have something else to drive? :wrench: get under there and get familiar with it! you will learn so much about your truck, save money and bust a few knuckles in the process!
  3. hmmmm I would be nervous dropping that much coin on a head that just blew a gasket, No telling if its even any good still. FWIW i bought an entire engine for $200, 4.0 with wiring and all the accessories. it also ran when it was taken out. but like said your location makes a big difference. Id keep looking
  4. installed an electric fan tonight, I will continue to report on how that works. I have it wired into the cab and controlled via a toggle. I also got my tube bender up and running. I will make measurements tomorrow and order my material, should start fab next weekend.
  5. is the boat a typical v hull/jon boat, or is it one of the ones with a console, etc. either way I think you would be fine.... I need another boat :(
  6. My truck is a 4.0 5spd on 33-35s with 4.56s, whenever it is pulling something its either a utility trailer with a couple 4wheelers, or a 14' aluminum boat. You can't feel the boat at all. as long as its not a super heavy load and you regear you should be good :wrench:
  7. what rotors? should be a good build. keep it up
  8. since you want to make it your wheeler id buy the rust free 2wd. when you wrench on it you won't have to deal with the crust, and you will be able to swap in whatever axle/ratio you choose. if the higher mileage motor goes, used motors are not hard to find
  9. we can put up with xjs :D especially that one. I like it alot
  10. ill take some of those door panels of your hands :brows:
  11. even with the adapter i run my stock shaft. I am Spring over axle though, i could probably benefit from a longer shaft still.
  12. by buddy had a 95 mazda, the seat wasnt too bad, same as a ranger. Let us know what u find :wrench:
  13. as for jacks i wouldnt think you would need one. Down here all the cars have the wheels off and are up on "jack stands" with an Mj being spring under, the axle will not fall when taken loose. when I got my 8.8 we unbolted the leaf springs and all, sat the axle up against the exloder and off came the springs and off we went... I will say we had a camp generator and a corded impact. When it comes to junk yarding Ive found that your best bet is spare hands and using everything you have available to you
  14. If it is anything like your old MJ I'm sure this will be a good build glad to see u back with an mj
  15. ill take my one maybe two snow falls per year... and we are lucky to get six inches.
  16. first actual vehicle i ever drove was a 95 yj. that was probably 10 years ago. last wrangler i drove was a year or two ago when my grandfather had a new wrangler.
  17. and now the fan doesnt work
  18. just a little run down of my day. - clean all the mud from jeep, underside underhood etc. - go to drive jeep, horrible noise, sounds like exhaust is dragging. turn around sound goes away, no idea what it was. - driving jeep again, hear a blowing noise, come to a stop. Realize the fan in the heater that has never worked is working  just another day owing a jeep I guess. But I guess I will take what i can get :wrench:
  19. I had an 06 3.7 wk. handled well, got decent mileage, (compared to what i get in my 1500 chevy now) it was underpowered though. VERRY underpowered. It was miserable if you tried to pass someone, but with a 4.7 you should be good. only problem i ever encountered was before i sold it something needed fixed on the trans, about $700 worth. other than that go for it
  20. truck looks good blue88comanche :wrench:
  21. thanks for the info guys! :wrench: Comanche club to the rescue again
  22. Like said in the title my truck doesnt like to idle well. It stays running, but it jumps around in rpms. it will go from normal up them back down etc. it did this with the old motor as well as the reman motor. what could this be? cps? its an 88mj 4.0 just don't know where to start
  23. thanks for the info guys. I now know a little more what I'm getting into :D seems like my biggest concern is going to be the rod/switch. I think i can handle that, and i can't wait to have some decent brakes in this thing! :wrench:
  24. the link is for using a wj booster. thanks :wrench:
  25. I wonder if the hit tweaked your shackle or leaf spring? sorry to hear about it man. and like pete said you will have her up and running again
