When do you want to go?

  1. 1. What time of year and year would you like to go?

  2. 2. What kind of wheeling do you want to do?

    • Mild, no damage please
    • Wild, I'm not afraid of body damage

    • Somewhere in the middle. I don't want to tear stuff up, but I'm not afraid to bump my rock sliders here and there, but I don't want body damage.

This topic got started in this thread here:

Let's start thinking about ComancheClub going to Moab. Mainly, time of year and what kind of wheeling we want to do. I'm not sure if I can do Spring 2027 for sure, but any of the other times work for me. I'd prefer mild stuff, but I should have a set of rock sliders by then and I won't be afraid to use them.

Anyways, fill out the poll if you're interested so we can come up with a rough number of CC folks.

I've been a trail leader for EJS and I've done a bunch of trails from easy to difficult over the last 15 years.  I haven't done the more extreme trails but it's looking like few people would want to run those trails.  I'm happy to offer to be a trail leader if people want.

FWIW, I did Hell's Revenge (6 out of 10 on their scale) in an XJ on 3.5" lift and 32" tires.   Just TrueTracs front and rear.  I did bypass the harder lines but had zero trouble.

If people are interested, I can spot them up Hell's gate.  It's a fun side trail on Hell's Revenge and a good opportunity to get good video.

That would be nice :L:. I'm up for most anything up to about a level 4 trail with the MJ. I enjoyed some tougher stuff with the YJ and TJ but it. I was thinking it would be nice to have a meet and greet and maybe 3 days of trails or so.

I agree, that seems like a great timeline

Perfect! I’m only on 31s with an LSD rear in my MJ, but I’m willing to use rock sliders a little bit. If we end up doing more aggressive trails, I’d be just as happy parking my truck and jumping in with someone else too.

I'll encourage people to push their comfort level on trails.  You'll be surprised what you and your Jeep can do.

But when it comes down to it, you shouldn't feel that you're being pushed beyond your personal limits.

The slickrock out there got its name when the pioneers in wagons with steel rimmed wheels were trying to get through.  The steel would just slide all over the hard rock.  But it's basically petrified sand dunes and it gives great traction to rubber tires.  Imagine rock covered in sandpaper.  It's very grippy and you can climb things that you wouldn't think you can.
