Factory Turbo Diesel Comanche Owners

Hi all!

 

I'm curious to see how many of ya'll have a factory turbo diesel Comanche. It still seems like nobody knows how many of these were sold or still exist. It would be nice to know if anyone else on here has one of these unicorns. Running or not, let's see em!

 

I currently own two in Alabama. First is a running 1986 XLS. Second is a non running 1987 Base model

I don't have a turbo diesel Comanche, but I am a big fan of diesel and had even considered if I ever need to "re-power" doing a TDI swap

 

BTW, what part of Bama??? I am in the NE corner, about 25 miles east out of Huntsville

Yes. Updated my signature with the current MJ roster. 

 

Also have a 1948 CJ2A, '90 W250 Cummins 5 speed, and my '06 2500 Cummins auto.

Mine doesn,t count. But given how few there are, I'll speak up anyway. 1986 XJ w/2.1 TD (J8S-814). 4WD w/5 speed manual. I have a tough time finding out where to look for BTDT info on maintenance and repair.

Your 86 was the only only one I have seen in person and that was Over 10 years ago when frank owned it before cayden. I have stripped down and 86 xj with the diesel but the engine was already dismantled before I touched it.

Yea frank is on here his username name is frankspeed or something like that. He has a yard with a ton of comanche parts and a few trucks. He makes the repop cab visors ..Solid dude. I went to buy some leaf springs from him and that light blue diesel was is his yard fast forward like 7-8 years he sold it to cayden I think.

Yeah I've spoken to Frank a few times about it. He did sell it to Caden. I bought off of Caden In March of 2023.

Hi everyone! I'm pleased to announce that another Turbo Diesel Comanche has been saved! Drove all the way to Oregon to get this one.

 

This one is a 1987 Laredo. It's pretty rough at the moment. The guy I got it from tore it up pretty bad. Cut fenders, sold the bed, rattle canned it with primer, and put a sketchy lift on it. It will be getting a full factory spec restoration when time permits.
