eaglescout526
Well with these new lamps on the horizon and seeing they require cutting up an already rare harness, how many would be interested in a harness that would be a direct plug n play with both the lamps and factory harness? I have some pieces left over from when I was going to make trailer harnesses in place of 88mjsally but someone else is making them faster. I can tell yall right now, colors won't match factory as I will be using what wiring I have(I will label what is what when I make and send as each harness will be uniquely different). I absolutely don't mind making a couple one offs here and there. Oracle I am not trying to undermine you or your business at all, I am just providing and alternative to those who wish to not hack up their harness to adapt your LEDs to work on their MJ. Salvagedcircuit
Are the mating connectors still available on sites like digikey / mouser / newark / arrow? If so, I can imagine having an adapting harness would be beneficial.
eaglescout526
Yup! all the connectors are available still. I think the main connector is a metri 280/150 combo.
Eagle
I'm personally not interested in aftermarket taillights, but I think having a pre-made harness available would be a great idea.

eaglescout526
I plan to make a prototype this weekend. If anyone has a tail lamp harness already out of an MJ, could pics and measurements be taken of it?
The86manche
I'll try and remember to get some. I have a harness in my garage
acfortier
It sounds like they include a harness with their tail lamps? Oh, I see--you're replacing the entire harness itself at the plug! Got it

Brewinghokie
After watching their video and knowing the concerns folks have had in the past with their products, I'd love a harness.
The86manche
I finally remembered to dig out that harness! I can get more/other measurements too I'm not 100% on what all you are looking for
eaglescout526
7ft of wire. Good amount, course there probably is a few splices in there that will give me some wiggle room. I just realized, doing the license plate lamp plug with the center plug will be a challenge that might have to be one of those "you need to reuse this from your old herness" deal. gogmorgo
Aren't the license plate wires just a couple loose bullet connectors? The ones set up nicely for someone who knows enough to be dangerous to plug them together while trying to diagnose some other issue and immediate pop the fuse and not remember what they did and can't figure out why they can't keep taillight fuses in the thing? Yes they are. Course I do like to give the benefit of the doubt to members on here with this type of connection.
gogmorgo
I only know it’s a problem cause I’ve done it 😅

I am gonna try to get the prototype harness started this weekend.
schardein
Rather than two separate bullet connectors, perhaps use an SAE two wire connector. Still serves the same purpose, but can't be "plugged into itself". A mating end with the wires cut off could be a plug to protect it from the elements if not used. You can probably get specific caps for it too if you really wanted to.

I don't know why I didn’t think about that.
schardein
There are two common sizes of a bullet connectors, .180” and a smaller .15something”. I think SAE connectors are .180, and that’s probably what the MJ connectors are, but you would want to confirm that.
eaglescout526
Really?! I didnt know that. I thought there was a one size bullet connector.
Tex06
I'd likely be interested as well. Trying not to hack up too much of my truck, although remaking a harness isn't the hardest thing either.... just time consuming.
The86manche
Allow me to get plate light wiring length and bullet size for you later today
eaglescout526
Thanks. I haven’t had a chance to make a prototype harness yet. One of my room mates just moved out over the weekend and thus was helping him pack and prep. I will try to get one in the works shortly.
