looking for if there are any 16" 5on5.5" factory rims in existance

got a free set of near-new 35s from my buddy and am curious if anything came with those specs so I can put these on the MJ (ford axles) for minimal monies plus keep the backspacing within reason.  :dunno:  any ideas?  since I'm dreaming here, let's shoot for 16x8 :D

I thought ZJs used them wheels, no? I scored a free set a while back and believe have your specs, I'm too far to verify this though...

technically there's no budget for any of this and I should probably just sell the tires.   :laugh:  but that's boring!

Ah, good point--Dakota won't work. 77.8 vs. 87.1 from the 78 Bronco axles. Doesn't seem to be any options 16x8 with 87.1 bore size, nor 16x7 with 87.1 bore size and 5x5.5. I think you're SOL.

 

I've been using this site: https://www.wheel-size.com/# if you want to try to play around with it--but putting in those specs, nothing comes up. Only thing with 16x7 and 87.1 bore is Ford's 5x135

I’m thinking based on axles as well. Almost all the 80’s and 90’s 1/2-3/4t Chevy trucks and vans used a 6x5.5 pattern. If you’re  looking for something from a Jeep then most FSJ such as the wagoneer came with that pattern also. Isuzu rodeo/Honda passport also. The Jeep wheel may be a good option.

Full-size Cherokee/Wagoneer were 6-bolt.

I pulled up a 2004-2006 E150 Econoline in a 16x7 and 87 centre bore. 
Apparently the 2000’s Kia Sorrento had a 5x139.7 with a 95mm centre bore if going lug centric is okay, or you know someone with a lathe who can whip up some centre bore adapter rings. 
 

I’m just wondering if a 7” wheel is going to be wide enough for a 35” tire.

Tons of half ton Dodges will have aftermarket wheels on them with the massive hub bore that will work.  16" isn't as common as 17", but they're out there.

 

I was going to machine the center out on a set of factory Dodge wheels for my MJ but found a set of brand spanking new in box aftermarket wheels for not much money and went that route.

 

 

Edit, the Ford axles are lug centric.  The hub bore doesn't matter as long as it goes over the front hub.  A guy could just hog a set of factory Dodge wheels over with a die grinder if he wanted.

Pete, there are adapters out there to make it "easy", I know I know, adapters are "evil", but this can be done right with correct installation and the mandated inspection and maintenance. Or, I'll come get them free tires off your hands you just smile and wave haha! XD

I've got nothing against adapters in principle, but they will push the tires out even more.   :( 

 

but now that I think about it, I may need to put one of the 33s back on the MJ and see just how close the tires get when turning.  this whole thread may be a moot point if it turns out I need more backspacing than factory rims tend to have.  :dunno:

Actually, yes you are going to have a problem if you try to run 35's on factory backspaced 16" (5 on 4.5 or 5 on 5 pattern) Jeep wheels, so you'll need adapeter even if you had that bolt pattern.  In your case, add the correct 1-1/2" conversion spacers to the  16" Jeep wheels and you'll be good to go.  I bet the tire will stick out less than an inch with that combo.  And if its a D44 front axle, there is much less worry about the load the spacers put on the hub bearings and such.
