I'm having trouble locating a Filler Neck Replacement. I'm not looking for the hose. I want the metal filler with the overflow/breather piece. If someone could provide me with a pn or link to a replacement. It would be greatly appreciated.

I *think* I still have a spare one in my parts pile down in the shed.  Give me a day or two to get down there to look, and if I still have it it's yours for the cost of shipping.

I'll try to get down there after work tonight or tomorrow.  It's supposed to snow here on Saturday:nuts: so I'm not going to be outside much over the weekend.  I'll backchannel you and let you know either way.

 

Anything I can do to keep these things on the road, I will.  There's also a shortbed MJ down at my junkyard (at least there was last week when I was there).  It's pretty hashed all over, but it should still have the filler neck on it.  That might be option 2, but I'm not sure when I could get down there to check.  You wouldn't happen to be local to me would you?  (pro tip, it helps to put your location in your profile for stuff like this:L:).  I could point you to the junkyard if you wanted.

Little far out I'd say. Keep me posted on the filler neck.

I have done a lot to this thing to keep it road worthily & I intend to keep it until the frame goes bye bye.

 

I was also told there aren't many 92s out there so, that's a bonus I guess

92 was the last year of them, and they didn't make many.  At all.  Here's the breakdown by model year (mine was an 87, kinda right at the "height" of production):

 

Production numbers:

 

1985: 29,245

1986: 33,386

1987: 43,070

1988: 43,718

1989: 25,311

1990: 9,576

1991: 5,188

1992: 952

he means "calendar year".  :L:  the model year 86s came out in july of 85, 87s came out in july of 86, etc.

Checked my shed tonight after work, couldn't find the darn thing.  That's not to say its not in there somewhere but I gave up trying lol.  I have to run to the 'yard tomorrow to grab a rear brake drum/bearing assembly for my Focus, so I'll see if that MJ is still there.  If it is, ill snag the neck off of it for you

I studied this hard. There should be an indicator on our starparts catalog that shows the body code the part number is for. If not I can’t imagine Chrysler changing things around for the MJ to have both necks work.

Regardless the factory hoses have long been nla. Guys say use Cherokee, the oId dry rotted one, or a flex hose. I remember a long time ago someone here spoke of trying to get some made and they shot him down fast much like I am with trying to get involvement on small batch of truck toppers. The return hose surely could flex that little amount if it was in fact reversed 180. I can see these as being yet another easy small batch run thing but from what I've experienced already, I see why it's taken 30 years to get aftermarket support here. Guys gripe but are quick to shoot anyone down willing to step it up.

Not that they are trying to shut you down per say, more like remembering the practical reasons why you won't see "small batches" produced as its been a long haul for the taillight repo and they still not a "complete unit". Tool and die in means of manufacturing is a costly game and furthermore these "small batches" would be more cost then the demand would pay for. And not to mention the liability insurance and other over head for a big company hit or miss, small company perhaps more feasible if had the proper permissions and rights to be able to do so. Now small local "custom" shop or person even can produce your desired product. Lots of skilled professionals and local to you even that can produce your needs. Question then is are you willing to pay. Again someone has to pay to produce. Always someone to step up if there's someone willing to pay. :scholar:

 

I used xj filler hose, and some instock rubber hose for vent. :dunno:

Parts for these things from the door back seem to be hard to find...

Ill do some measuring and stuff to see what fits. ATM the comanche is down dude to water pump failure

Went down to the junkyard Saturday morning, that MJ is gone, gone, gone.....:mad:

 

I'll give another look in my shed later on this week.  I'm about 95% sure it's in there, I just can't find it.  Saturday might end up being "clean the shed" day.

Willing to buy one. Crazy that there's no aftermarket one at all. That little extension piece on mine is sheered clean off.

I had this same exact issue. Try to score an original from one of the less rusty states and paint it before installing. In fact, sandblast and POR15 any part you can before installing. Its hard getting these parts now, it’ll be even harder in 5 years.

I kind of just blocked off the side hose because it was impossible for me to add fuel to it.

Side note the replacement pump I put in is so inaccurate & quite annoying not being able to know how much fuel I truly have. The fluctuation is ridiculous.  I'll have a 1/4 of a tank then 3/4, empty, back to 1/4. Rock Auto pump btw
