GritHound
Picked up a 1992 Briarwood. Its in rough shape but should be a fun restore. I’m excited to get started on this rebuild. I’ve got a few ideas for mods on this one so I won't go back to stock like my other restores.
Gjeep
First black briarwood I’ve seen. Congrats. Most seemed to be white. Occasional green or blue one.
GritHound
Grabbed a 1987 4.2 for the stroker upgrade. Pulled the crankshaft and piston rods for the engine rebuild. I couldn’t believe the lifter dishing. The camshaft lobes were ground to circles. I'm guessing this engine was running on 4 cylinders. Good news was there was a brand new head on it I may be able to resale.

Me too. I thought it was navy blue when I went to pick it up. I had to look at the paint code.
GritHound
I bought an original brush guard from @neohic and started to restore it but ended up selling it with my Comanche. Good news is the buyer wasnt going to use it so he gave it back to me for free. His collection is unbelievable. He also put some red stripes on the Comanche. It looks great! Ive added some pics below.

Thats the old school in me. Maybe I should throw some KC’s on this one and keep the Marchals for the next project.
1987Comanche
That steering wheel is mint! Haven't seen a tan one in that kind of shape in, well, decades... Does the XJ Waggy have the system monitor? That would be a great addition too. I'd only ever seen one on a Renix XJ in the jy but I was quite intrigued by it. GritHound
Foot surgery has me down for about 6 weeks but it is giving me some “sit still” time to look for some cool parts. Excited about this find! @JohnnyTorluccio

GritHound
Woodgrain Selection - TBD I have completed a few "stock" restores, but thinking about putting in some of my own customization/flare to this one. I received a number of 3M DiNoc samples to review before determining what woodgrain I would use. Initially I was thinking a grey woodgrain with light grey trim since it is a black xj, but now leaning towards #3 with the black highlights. I took a poll on the XJ Wagoneer FB Group and it was #5 (closest to original look). I should state that if you are going for the original look, you may want to use WG-430 Marine Teakwood. It is a bit darker than original but closest I have found. I'm leaving the samples on the jeep until I get to the exterior (long time away from that) and will make a decision. Let me know what you think!
