How to spend an entire afternoon changing a heater hose

This is ridiculous. 12+ ft of rear heater hose and AC line combo. Over $500 our cost from the dealer.

 

Buick Enclave's are the worst ( along with Traverse, Acadia, Outlook, etc)

I HATE getting parts like that in. Most of the time customers never come back and we are stuck with hose awkward hoses and we have no place to shove them into a corner.

Yep, two lines for the rear heater core, two for the discharge/suction for the rear evaporator.


There's an aftermarket company that makes replacement lines from barrier hose, so flexible the entire way back, so much easier to install, but still over $400 just for the two AC lines.

my moms ford freestar had the rear heater hoses too PITA... i did appreciate having a warm back seat as a kid though lol.

We had a Chrysler in the other day that required the engine/trans to be pulled to replace a rear hvac line.

and here I sit, getting happier and happier that my folks opted to get the lifetime mopar warranty on the durango...  I'm not fixing anything like that!

I forgot to tell y'all the best part. So GM delivers the hose assembly in a box. A box that's not 12 feet long. Open it up, yep, they cut it in half to ship it.

Call them up and they said, oh you don't have the connector kit? Apparently, they cut it in half to save on shipping costs, then you have to buy a $1000 special crimp connector tool and special anaerobic sealant to rejoin the piping.

Ridiculous.

THAT is the most absurd engineering design I've ever heard of, and on top of that, somebody also had to approve of the design! Unreal.....
