Claude
Hello, can anyone please tell me where to find a stamped complete VIN on the frame of a 92 Comanche? A picture which shows the correct place would be fine. Thanks in advance!
eaglescout526
Do you not have a plate on the fire wall or the radiator support?
Claude
Yes I have at least a plate on the fire wall.
Limeyjeeper
The last 6 of the VIN are also stamped on the frame. I just can't remember where. I think by the front lower control arm mount.
Claude
But I need the complete VIN stamped on the frame.
fiatslug87
I found this, it may not have the complete VIN.
Claude
In Europe I need the complete VIN stamped on the frame. So if there is no stamped VIN from stock the registration office has to stamp it by their own which produces more costs. That's why I wanted to know if Jeep already stamped this complete VIN in the frame.
eaglescout526
Well most, if not all MJ's and XJ's were built here and then exported to Europa. So AMC|Jeep and Chrysler still followed the U.S. automotive regulations when it came to building cars. Never understood why Europe is so finicky about car registrations. Claude
I don't understand that either
Limeyjeeper
Because car theft in Europe is an institution!! They might have stamped the full VIN for Euro approval.

Our across the pond members have had issues registering because of tail lights but back then the MJ tail lights didn't require the amber turn signal over there like they require it now. Just blame the U.S. for the red tail lamps.

OldManComanche
Just pay the extra to have them stamp the frame! I would bet that you will probably find that there will be some other "fees" they will want to tack on. Worrying about it will make you an old man (like me) You might also contact the consulate of the country where you would like to tag it. Claude
I heard that under bed on the frame one should be and under the hood near the fender somewhere but I have no idea where that should be. That's why a picture would be helpful.
Claude
This stamping would be around $100, not all the money but why spend it on this when you can spend it on something else
eaglescout526
Keep in mind we’re talking about a truck that was built in the 80’s that really never conformed to any of Europe’s automotive standards. Try searching for a possible location on an XJ frame as those sold very well in Europe and can give you a general idea if AMC and Chrysler did stamp the full VIN on our trucks. OldManComanche
The VIN on the lower drivers side windshield won't work? (keeping in mind that this is a unibody)

Pete M
I've pulled my share of beds and don't remember ever seeing one. though I wasn't looking specifically for it. would be awesome if it was because that would allow me to properly date my MJ trailer. OldManComanche
Kjell, do you know if your truck was originally sold in Europe or imported there? I went out and scratched the undercoat off of my 89's frame and no vin. stamped in the frame.
