Hello,

can anyone please tell me where to find a stamped complete VIN on the frame of a 92 Comanche?

A picture which shows the correct place would be fine.

Thanks in advance!

In Europe I need the complete VIN stamped on the frame.

So if there is no stamped VIN from stock the registration office has to stamp it by their own which produces more costs.

That's why I wanted to know if Jeep already stamped this complete VIN in the frame.

Well most, if not all MJ's and XJ's were built here and then exported to Europa. So AMC|Jeep and Chrysler still followed the U.S. automotive regulations when it came to building cars. Never understood why Europe is so finicky about car registrations.

Because car theft in Europe is an institution!! They might have stamped the full VIN for Euro approval.

I don't know much about Europe's automotive registration but this is an 80's truck we are talking about. Our across the pond members have had issues registering because of tail lights but back then the MJ tail lights didn't require the amber turn signal over there like they require it now. Just blame the U.S. for the red tail lamps.

He bought it here and is being shipped to Europe.

Stamp it yourself and rub some old grease on it.  :peep:

That I could do yes but it's not allowed.

Is there real no complete VIN stamped on this frame?

Personally, I have not see one when going on the tear down and rebuild of my MJ.

Just pay the extra to have them stamp the frame!   I would bet that you will probably find that there will be some other "fees" they will want to tack on.                                                              Worrying about it will make you an old man (like me)

You might also contact the consulate of the country where you would like to tag it.

I heard that under bed on the frame one should be and under the hood near the fender somewhere but I have no idea where that should be.

That's why a picture would be helpful.

Keep in mind we’re talking about a truck that was built in the 80’s that really never conformed to any of Europe’s automotive standards. Try searching for a possible location on an XJ frame as those sold very well in Europe and can give you a general idea if AMC and Chrysler did stamp the full VIN on our trucks.

The VIN on the lower drivers side windshield won't work?  (keeping in mind that this is a unibody)

That is on the dash pad which can be removed

I've pulled my share of beds and don't remember ever seeing one.  :dunno:  though I wasn't looking specifically for it.  would be awesome if it was because that would allow me to properly date my MJ trailer.  :D

Kjell, do you know if your truck was originally sold in Europe or imported there? I went out and scratched the undercoat off of my 89's frame and no vin. stamped in the frame.
