I feel like I am asking this question a lot, but is there any reason to believe one of those 87-90 2.5 2WD speedometer cables will not fit my 86 2.5 2WD?

I think the clip on the bask-side of the instrument cluster is different.

Yup! The 84-86 clusters use a different connection on the back side of the Speedo.

I do not have the insert adapter, I have some sort of word that they are supposed to go into a small batch reproduction. As for the other tool, no one has the MJ specific but apparently there’s XJ ones but I think I recall they are shorter.

I am too. I havent heard much else but when I sold the one I had to saveevryjp, he has the intentions to have it reproduced.
