fiatslug87
Anyone know the difference between HD and High Volume oil pumps?
eaglescout526
Why let me quote the catalogue HD- "This heavy duty pump is made of cast iron for added strength and better rough cycle wear characteristics." HV- "This high volume pump is similar to P4529227(above) except that it has larger rotors for a 25 percent increase in capacity."
eaglescout526
Actually it seems upon further research, the oil pumps could be used on the 2.5L since Chrysler shows the pump to be the same for both engines.

No..when that one stroker found surfaced, I immediately looked and see if there was any and there was not. All it does is increase spark advanced and fuel flow. Warren Mohler
you can only hope they will show up. When the AMC dealership I worked at closed I helped clean out building, threw out a dumpster full of Studebaker parts I could have had them all. STUPID on my part

Manche757
Eagle, what would you guess the condition of a 30 year old timimg chain is? Links still flexible? Metal pitted and rough?
eaglescout526
Well id imagine they are kept inside away from the weather so I would say they are in fine shape.

Metal pitted and rough? I can tell you that somewhere around twenty years and 200,000 miles I replaced the timing chain in my '88 XJ as what I thought was a preemptive strike. I'm an AMC guy, and the AMC V8s had a cam sprocket that used nylon teeth. They weren't good for much more than 100,000 or so miles (maybe 150,000 if well cared for). Thinking the Jeep was the same, I thought I was living on borrowed time. Once I got it apart, I found that the original timing chain was basically a roller chain, it was in perfect condition, and it hadn't stretched at all. I had the new parts so I installed them, but I saved the old parts and I wouldn't hesitate to use them to repair an older engine in a beater or trail rig. I would guess your 30-year old timing set is basically perfect.
