Started pulling stuff off of the xj, sliders, rear bumper, and rear axle are off. Got some stuff pulled for members too. Going to modify my current rear bumper with the new one to get it mounted on my truck. I need to research how to use an xj axle in an mj and how to move the perches

Front driver side axle shaft is broken. I'll need to inspect the gears for damage.

Been searching for a write up on moving axles perches from xj to mj if anyone has one handy please paste it here

The luck continues. The front axel shaft is broken but the gears look ok. I was concerned it was locked in the front but it's not. It has if I'm saying it right ratchet gears? 1 ton steering will get swapped over too at some point. Getting the front bumper sanded for paint.

That is an auto-locker (also called a lunchbox locker).  It will lock the front when it receives power from the driveshaft, but should unlock under deceleration.  Since it's in the front, you won't notice it except for a little ratcheting noise on sharp turns most likely.  In 4wd in the snow, it can take some getting used to, but I loved mine when I had it and learned to easily control it with the throttle pedal. :)

Parts are piling up, getting closer to an install day. Found a 231 with  SYE on it yesterday. Paid a little more than I wanted to but there were a lot of options. Still need a front axel shaft, and both drive lines. I'll need to replace some odds and ends along the way that I fear will add up to a decent chunk of money. Here is what I got.

Making progress. I don't have a big enough socket for the nut on the end of the axle shaft . Upper control arm bolts are really stuck too. Applie some PB blaster. I want to replace all the u joints, ball joints and things while I'm at it but it is not going to be cheap.

Well we had two floods. Not a mother nature type of flood but a broken pipe and a toilet that ran over for a day. Insurance paid out and I did most of the work to get it better than before. We just listed my house for Sale.
