Has anybody else seen this?

Good to see. Originals are getting hard to find.

Would be neat to see a version for 5-1/4 or maybe 6-1/2" speakers.
Everyone on Facebook said nobody would buy them. I commented and said I know AT LEAST 10 people wanting a set.

I think he's working on bigger speaker versions too. But one step at a time.

He said he was also working on roll bar brackets but I think I'll beat him to it. Hes just an engineering student, doesn't have as much access to lasers and presses like I do.

Hope you let him know you are  doing the roll bar brackets and let him do the speaker stuff.  Works better that way.  Rather than 2 guys doing the same thing.

There should be demand for these because every time they show up in the “For Sale” forum they’re quickly snapped up.  He might want to check availability of the plastic “nuts” for mounting the speakers and supply them (and the screws) as a complete set.

I did. We had a conversation about having stuff drawn up and I showed him some of the stuff I've had drawn up at work.

I didn't even think of the plastic nuts. But...if it's cheaper and easier, just supply regular nuts and bolts and the speaker gets mounted in the bracket then the bracket in the cab.

99% sure you can just go buy those nylon push-nuts at a hardware store. I think I remember replacing some in my brackets.

As someone who has sold several pairs of those speaker brackets, it's pretty clear there's a demand for them. Generally, you should do the opposite of what your average Jeep FB group denizen says to do.

this actually makes me feel a little better about leaving a pair in the junkyard the other day.  I pulled them from the truck but they vanished from my hand sometime in the next 3 hours.  no idea where I set them (and the hood cable) down. :(  next time I'm bringing an IKEA bag to carry my goodies!  :applause:

I've also sold several sets after the first pair I found went in my MJ.  I think a fair price is higher than one would expect for what they are, because they are such a pain to get out.

I wonder if the plastic nuts are the same as the ones for the grill?  Would be a relatively easy source.

Nope, not the same. The grill push nuts are the same ones as used for the license plate though. But those MJ plastic nuts are the same as used for all the other speakers like in the door, so that's a source.

Great info!  So any XJ with front door speakers (which is nearly all of them) would provide a set of 8?

Si. Same p/n. Even if they don't have speakers the nuts should still be there in the door frame.
