Well my girlfriend's Commander was broken into tonight at Margo Frankel Woods State Park near Des Moines.

They used a center punch twice on the front window only pruducing cracks, and finally figured out the rear one was tempered so that one shattered. They stole her purse (was under the seat, out of sight) and made off with a few account cards, that are now closed, and about $30 cash. They obviously rummaged the center console but there wasn't anything of value there. We've got pretty much everything taken care of at this point, and Safelite will be out Friday to replace the windows (hopefully completely covered by insurance). The door is covered up and it will stay in the shed until Friday. Luckily I've got a few back up vehicles that she can drive.

Just want to warn everyone that this stuff can happen to anyone, anywhere, and to stay smart and stay safe. We got off lucky, this could have been much worse. da381057b09631ad749a083f820fe881.jpg73b94dfd754312cd185ff613c302ad1f.jpg02c41f100ce26601ec01a41f663ad3e0.jpg

I hate thieves.  :fistshake1:  at least she wasn't nearby when it happened.  never know what a panicked thief will do.

Lol I guess I spelled thieves wrong in the title?

Yeah that is what I was worried about most, the first words out of my mouth when she called was asking if everyone was okay.  She was out with a friend, who is very scrawny, walking the dogs.  It would have been so much worse if they met the thieves face to face.

Most likely druggies. Bastids will break in a car at the local Walmart lot....

Is that your hand?

Yeah it is.  It looks kinda goofy in the reflection.

Edit: the more I look at it, the more alien it looks.  Ha.  I have normal human hands, they are just really big.

Keep in mind the holidays are approaching, lowlifes will be out in full force trying to steal stuff from hardworking people so they can pawn them for drug money.....

could have been worse Dzimm , looks like you got all the financial aspects worked out , which is second most important to your loved ones .

A guy I worked with had his truck broken into while he was at the gym.  Left his wallet in the truck because he didn’t trust the lockers.  By the time he discovered the break-in and reported it to the police, the thieves had run up over $4,000 on his credit cards.  Even though they were caught on security cameras at one place, they were not identified or arrested.  He called the credit card company immediately and didn’t have to pay for the fraudulent charges, but still lost a watch and ring.  D@&# thrives are everywhere!

Glad the ladies are OK and the break-in was caught quickly enough to minimize the monetary loss.

My truck was broken into years ago, lost DL and gun permit and CCs and checkbook. Wallet never gets left in a vehicle now. Really sucks getting all ID stolen.....getting replacements are a real hassle.

Wait until you have your house ransacked.........all your personal belonging gone through........gold stolen...........guns stolen................really really sucks.

The wife and I never leave our handguns at home now.

And a trailer was stolen from my driveway 2 years ago........that's a long and interesting story, they way they got caught.

Years ago, I confronted a fellow in the process of trying to steal my car at 5 a.m.  Fortunately, he accepted my invitation to get out of the car and run like hell.

I do not suggest anyone do what I did, it could have turned out very badly for me.

Main thing here is:  Nobody got hurt.

Steel lock box bolted to the floor would help. If there out alone allot talk to them about being armed and trained and know the laws in your state for carry. Even if they don't like the gun idea there are other methods out there also.

I do not suggest anyone put themselves in that position!!  It is just plain stupid thing to do.

I can say now, I was much younger and much more stupid way back then.  The situation could have turned very bad quit easy.

As a certified instructor, especially for women I strongly recommend the NRA's Refuse to be a Victim (RTBAV) course. It's being offered all around the country, and it offers REAL (not gun-grabber) common sense strategies for keeping yourself, your loved ones, and your stuff safe. It is NOT about guns or martial arts.
