Minuit Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 At the risk of sounding like an ad for my radio business... ugh. I am very close to having workable Bluetooth in a factory Jeep radio. In fact, I have a prototype on my desk right now. Once I make a few improvements, I will need a couple of trusted volunteers to test a protoype Bluetooth equipped radio. If you are interested and willing to test a potentially buggy radio, please PM me. Here's what I know: - This will happen in the next few weeks. - I must trust you. This means I need to either know you or you must be a relatively well known face around here. - I will probably be building two prototypes - one for me to keep, one to pass around to trusted CC members. - In exchange for testing, you will receive a steep discount on my stuff.
Jeep Driver Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 That's cool. Bluetooth is my everything.............lol
Dzimm Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I would gladly help with this but I rarely use my radio as it is (it also doesn't receive more than 1 local station and it happens to be rap/hip hop ). I'm very interested to see how this works. Good work for even making it possible! I would have never guessed it possible at all.
madog7200 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I would be interested, plus i live close ... but I'm not sure if i fall in the "trusted face around here" categorySent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
krustyballer16 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I'd help if I still used a factory radio or even still had the factory plug in...Sounds like an awesome idea!Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Minuit Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 Ok, wow you guys act fast. I would be providing harnesses, brackets, wiring diagrams, and any other installation support needed. I'd also be covering all shipping. Here's a very short demo of what I have so far, also featuring a heat gun running away: As far as "am I a trusted member"... ask yourself, "would I feel any desire or compulsion to run away with Minuit's stuff or do something I'm not supposed to?" If the answer is no, I probably trust you. The current BT-1 prototype is a shagged out 1993 AM-FM radio 99% chance this is the one that will be passed around. It will fit in the dash of any non-97+ MJ or XJ and uses the common 13 pin Jeep/Eagle plug. It is not up to my usual quality standards - it just has to survive the testing period.
gogmorgo Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I'm interested. Except I'm not exactly nearby. And I currently have a poopy Bluetooth stereo in there that doesn't Bluetooth music, just phone calls, and doesn't pick up my voice worth a damn. But it also means that I no longer have my factory harness either... That's sitting in my XJ about 1000 miles away. But I'm very interested in Bluetooth capability without having a stereo that looks crazily out of place in my truck.
madog7200 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Are you planning on revamping these old radios and selling them in the future? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

Minuit Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 Still taking names. Bonus points if you're local to me, so I don't have to ship it to you!

Minuit Posted September 29, 2017 Author Posted September 29, 2017 I don't have any pictures of the exact one, but it looks like this Just not in as good of shape.
RustyRodder Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Wishing I was closer! Installed the factory radio I got off Ebay- and it does not work

Instructions have been sent to them. Unfortunately I couldn't pick everyone (I picked three of you), and I pulled two of the three names out of a hat. The third has a prior agreement with me, so was automatically part of the testing.
